A Goofy Movie is reportedly set to air on Disney Channel at 6:30 p.m. ET the night before Thanksgiving. Fun twist: Disney first planned to open the movie the Friday before Thanksgiving in 1994.
Max and Goofy might be hitting the road back to cable. A Goofy Movie is set to air on Disney Channel Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 6:30 p.m. ET, the night before Thanksgiving, according to the fan account ToonHive on X.
ToonHive credited another fan account, The Disney Beat, which says this is the movie's first Disney Channel airing since 2010. We couldn't confirm that date. Disney hasn't announced the airing, either.
We checked TV listings, and they don't show it yet. That's not a red flag on its own, since most guides only run about two weeks ahead. As of Wednesday night, TV Guide showed no airings of A Goofy Movie in the next 14 days. Nov. 25 sits just past that window.
Here's the fun part. Disney originally scheduled A Goofy Movie for Nov. 18, 1994, the Friday before Thanksgiving. Then someone spotted a dead pixel in the footage during a screening, and the crew had to recapture about three-quarters of the film. The release slid to April 7, 1995.
So 32 years later, Max finally gets his Thanksgiving week. On cable. With commercials. Close enough.
Here's a look back at A Goofy Movie:
When does A Goofy Movie air on Disney Channel?
6:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 25, per ToonHive's post. That's the East Coast time. Disney Channel runs a separate West Coast feed, so check your local guide if you're out west.
The movie runs 1 hour and 22 minutes on Disney+, so commercials will stretch it out on TV. Thanksgiving week listings should start popping up in the next week or so. That's the best way to lock in the exact time.
Where can I watch A Goofy Movie right now?
On Disney+, where it's rated G. The 2000 sequel, An Extremely Goofy Movie, streams there, too.
So does Not Just a Goof, the documentary about how the first film got made. It hit Disney+ on April 7, 2025, the movie's 30th anniversary.
No Disney+? The cable airing is your other option, assuming you still have cable. Some of us do. No judgment.
Why is A Goofy Movie a cult classic?
It sure didn't start out as one. The movie opened to $6.1 million, second place behind Bad Boys, and finished with about $35.3 million in the U.S. against an $18 million budget, SlashFilm reported.
Producer Don Hahn didn't sugarcoat it in a 2020 Vanity Fair interview. "It wasn't even a B movie. It was a C movie," he said.
Home video and cable did the rest. Kids wore out the VHS tape, and SlashFilm credited regular Disney Channel rotation for helping, too. By the 30th anniversary, D23 ran throwback screenings in more than 20 cities, ending at Disney World in August 2025 with Bill Farmer (Goofy) and Jason Marsden (Max).
Who sings Powerline's songs in A Goofy Movie?
Tevin Campbell sang Powerline's two big numbers, "Stand Out" and "I 2 I." Patrick DeRemer and Roy Freeland wrote them. Director Kevin Lima has said he drew from Prince, Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown for the character, SlashFilm reported.
Powerline is a fictional pop star who has outlasted plenty of real ones. Just saying.
What is An Extremely Goofy Movie about?
The sequel went straight to video on Feb. 29, 2000. Yes, leap day. Max heads off to college, and Goofy struggles at work with an empty nest. His fix? Enrolling at Max's school to finish his own degree.
Max is thrilled. (He is not.)
Where can I find A Goofy Movie at Disney parks?
Powerline is having a big year at Disney World.
Magic Kingdom pins: WDWNT spotted four new pins at the Emporium on Nov. 4. They show Max and Roxanne ($17.99), Powerline with his backup singers ($17.99), Max and PJ at the Neptune Inn ($14.99) and Goofy and Max fishing ($14.99). Two of the designs also turned up at Disneyland Resort.
Jollywood Nights: Max Goof as Powerline is on the character greeting list for the Hollywood Studios holiday party, which runs 15 nights from Nov. 7 to Jan. 5, 2027, the Disney Parks Blog said.
Halloween party: Max's Powerline dance set moved to a stage in Adventureland for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year, as we reported in August.
A dad dragging his teenager on a road trip nobody asked for, right before a holiday packed with family. Honestly, Disney Channel couldn't have picked a more relatable time slot.
