A Kingdom Hearts crossover appears to be heading to Fortnite, and the leaks are getting specific. Just maybe not about the part fans care about most.
Dataminers have surfaced what looks like the crossover’s first real asset: the Gummi Ship, the goofy spacecraft from the games, arriving as a drivable car in Fortnite and Rocket League next season. Leaker HYPEX posted an actual leaked car decal with textures pulled straight from the game.
So something Kingdom Hearts is almost certainly coming. The open question is whether Sora himself shows up.
The Gummi Ship is leaking, but a Sora skin isn’t confirmed
The leaks strongly point to the Gummi Ship as a vehicle. Dataminer Loolo Leaks reported it’s coming as a car next season, and the leaked decal backs that up. That part looks solid.
What’s not confirmed is a Sora skin, the playable Kingdom Hearts hero that would actually let you run around Fortnite as the Keyblade kid. As one report put it plainly, neither leak confirms Sora is being added as a skin. Fans are assuming he’ll appear in some form, because a Kingdom Hearts crossover without Sora would be strange, but assuming isn’t confirming.
None of this is official, either. Epic Games hasn’t announced the crossover at all. Everything here comes from dataminers and Fortnite leakers, who have a good track record with this stuff but are not the company.
Why a Sora skin is more complicated than a Gummi Ship
This is the part worth understanding, because it explains why the ship might come and the character might not.
Sora is co-owned by Disney and Square Enix. Kingdom Hearts is the one franchise where Disney characters live alongside original heroes, which means Sora comes wrapped in Disney’s licensing, some of the most tightly controlled in entertainment. A Gummi Ship is a vehicle. Sora is a character Disney has to sign off on.
That’s not a dealbreaker, and there’s precedent cutting both ways. Sora was the final DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which proves Disney and Square Enix will license him onto other platforms under the right terms. So it can happen.
But that Smash deal was reportedly a long negotiation, and it doesn’t guarantee anything for Fortnite. The honest read is that the vehicle is the easy yes and the character is the hard maybe.
Kingdom Hearts is having a big moment right now
The timing of all this isn’t random. Kingdom Hearts is suddenly everywhere, which is exactly when a Fortnite tie-in would make sense.
Kingdom Hearts IV got its first gameplay reveal at a Nintendo Direct in June. The full back catalog, the Kingdom Hearts I-III collection, launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, and PC on October 8. The franchise is more visible than it’s been in years.
Epic and Square Enix are already collaboration partners, and both have reasons to want a crossover landing while Kingdom Hearts is hot. A Fortnite tie-in doubles as free marketing for Kingdom Hearts IV. The commercial logic all points the same direction.
When the Kingdom Hearts Fortnite crossover could arrive
Nailing down timing is tricky, because this leak has been floating for a while.
The crossover first surfaced in leaks back in February, tied to Fortnite Chapter 7. It never showed up when expected. The latest leaks point to it arriving with the game’s next season, which dataminers expect around August 20, though Epic hasn’t confirmed that date either.
So the status, honestly stated: a Kingdom Hearts crossover looks real and close, the Gummi Ship vehicle is the best-supported piece of it, and a Sora skin remains the thing fans want, leakers expect, and nobody has actually confirmed. If you’ve been sitting on V-Bucks waiting to play as Sora, keep sitting on them a little longer. The ship might be ready before the man is.
