Penny Proud's rant about holiday shopping makes Santa quit on Christmas Eve in A Proud Family Wizmas, a stop-motion musical special with six new songs. It hits Disney+ Saturday, Nov. 14.
Penny Proud ruins Christmas in the first trailer for A Proud Family Wizmas, and this time she does it one frame at a time.
Disney+ debuted the trailer Wednesday as an Essence exclusive. The special swaps The Proud Family's usual 2D look for stop-motion puppets, and it premieres Saturday, Nov. 14, on Disney+. That's 10 days away.
Here's the setup. Penny goes on a rant about how commercial Christmas has gotten, and it lands so hard that Santa quits on Christmas Eve. Guilted into it, Penny takes over his route with help from Santa's "irreverent elves." Her mission: save Christmas for the kids of Emilyville and the world.
Santa has survived centuries of mall lines and wish lists. One Penny Proud rant takes him out. Respect.

When does A Proud Family Wizmas come out?
Saturday, Nov. 14, on Disney+. We flagged the date in our rundown of what's coming to Disney+ in November. It's one of several holiday specials on the service this month, along with Mickey's Home Alone on Nov. 27.
Disney hasn't listed a run time.
Who is in A Proud Family Wizmas?
The core voice cast from the series is back, led by Kyla Pratt as Penny. Tommy Davidson (Oscar), Paula Jai Parker (Trudy) and JoMarie Payton (Suga Mama) return, along with Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.
Karen Malina White, Soleil Moon Frye, Alisa Reyes, Carlos Mencia, Alvaro Gutierrez, Raquel Lee Bolleau and Melissa De Sousa are back, too.
The guest list is stacked:
Anderson .Paak as a Mall Elf
JB Smoove as the Mall Santa
Gabrielle Union as Talia Rogue, a returning character
Lil Rel Howery as Bubble
Tone Loc as Penny Loc
Karlous Miller as Benny
Earthquake as Big Mack
Luenell as Belinda
Affion Crockett as Billy
Yes, Tone Loc plays someone named Penny Loc. Nobody is going to top that pun this season.
Why is The Proud Family doing stop-motion?
Disney hasn't really said, Parenting Patch noted. The special comes from Disney Television Animation with HouseSpecial, a stop-motion studio in Portland, Ore.
Series creator Bruce W. Smith directs, with co-director David Brooks. Smith is a Disney animation veteran. He was the supervising animator on Pacha in The Emperor's New Groove and Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.
Executive producer Ralph Farquhar wrote the special. Composer Kurt Farquhar wrote six original songs, so expect this to be a musical. "It's gonna be a wild Wizmas," Ralph Farquhar told Bossip this summer.
Our guess on the why? Stop-motion and Christmas go way back. Rankin/Bass made Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer that way in 1964, and Disney's own The Nightmare Before Christmas turned the style into a holiday staple in 1993. Penny is joining a pretty good club.
Is this the end of The Proud Family?
For now, it looks like the send-off. Disney announced Wizmas in June alongside the fourth and final season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, and Laughing Place reported the special rounds out the series.
That final season premiered July 29 on Disney+. Louder and Prouder first arrived on Disney+ in February 2022, picking up where the Disney Channel original left off.
The original Proud Family premiered on Disney Channel in 2001, which makes 2026 its 25th anniversary year. The show's original run ended in 2005 with The Proud Family Movie.
Where can I watch The Proud Family?
On Disney+, where the original series and all four seasons of Louder and Prouder stream. That's a lot of Suga Mama to catch up on before Nov. 14.
Penny ruining Christmas and then fixing it is very on brand. She's been doing that to her dad's plans for 25 years.
