A real Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is opening in 2027
Five Nights at Freddy’s is getting a real Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza at New Jersey’s American Dream
Five Nights at Freddy’s is getting a real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. American Dream, the New Jersey megamall with its own theme park, announced a permanent immersive location for 2027, with animatronic stage shows, arcade games, and survival-horror experiences.
The most famous haunted pizzeria in gaming is about to become a place you can actually eat at, on purpose.
American Dream, the sprawling entertainment complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, announced Saturday that it’s building a permanent, real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. The grand opening is targeted for 2027.
It’s being developed with franchise owner ScottGames as an actual working version of the fictional restaurant, not just a photo-op set. Which, for a series about killer animatronics, is a sentence that carries a little weight.
What the real Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza will have
Per the announcement, this is meant to be the whole experience, dinner and a scare.
Guests will be able to:
Dine at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza on actual food
Play arcade games
Watch animatronic stage shows with Freddy and the Fazbear Band
Visit Foxy’s Pirate Cove
Step behind the curtain for “immersive multiplayer survival-horror experiences”
That last one is the part FNAF fans will fixate on. It sounds like some form of real-life version of the games themselves, where the whole point is surviving a night with the animatronics. Whether that means manning a security office while Freddy stalks the halls, the studio isn’t saying yet.
“We’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza — we’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” said Atreyu Alcantar, American Dream’s creative lead on the project. He stressed the animatronic show has to feel authentic and the food has to actually be good.
Why American Dream makes sense for a FNAF attraction
Here’s the context that makes this bigger than a themed restaurant, and it’s the part the gaming write-ups mostly skip.
American Dream isn’t just a mall. It’s a full entertainment destination that already houses Nickelodeon Universe, an indoor theme park, plus DreamWorks Water Park, a LEGOLAND Discovery Center, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, and an indoor ski slope. So Freddy’s isn’t landing in a random food court. It’s slotting into a place built around exactly this kind of attraction.
It’s also roughly 75 minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure, which means a FNAF superfan could realistically build a whole New Jersey attractions trip around it. For a franchise this big that has never had a real home, dropping it inside an established destination is a smart move.
Five Nights at Freddy’s has been colliding with real pizzerias for years
The funny thing is that a real Freddy’s has sort of existed by accident for a decade, and one actual restaurant paid the price.
Years back, a real spot called Freddie’s Pizzeria in Long Branch, New Jersey got buried under hundreds of prank calls a day from kids convinced it was secretly tied to the game, even though the franchise always said every location was fictional. The name was close enough, and the fandom did the rest.
So there’s a nice full-circle bit here. New Jersey has been unofficially haunted by a fake connection to Freddy’s for years. Now the state is getting the genuine article, official animatronics and all.
When the real Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza opens
The honest status is: confirmed, but early.
The location is officially happening and targeted for 2027, but there’s no exact opening date, no ticketing details, and no word on pricing or how the survival-horror piece actually works. American Dream and ScottGames have a page where fans can register for updates.
It’s also worth noting this is a huge stretch for the FNAF brand, which spent a decade as horror games and then a hit Blumhouse movie. A permanent, family-and-fun-facing physical attraction is a different animal, especially for a series whose whole premise is that the pizza place is a deathtrap.
Then again, that tension is kind of the appeal. People have wanted to walk into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza since 2014, fully aware of what happens in there after dark. In 2027, in New Jersey, they finally get to. Just, you know, maybe don’t take the night shift.
