“Ahsoka” season 2 premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2027. Lucasfilm revealed the date and a teaser at D23 in August.
Season 1 debuted on Aug. 22, 2023. By the time season 2 arrives, that’ll be a gap of about three years and five months.

Who is in the Ahsoka season 2 cast?
Most of the main crew is back, per StarWars.com:
Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker
Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla

Who plays Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2?
Rory McCann, best known as the Hound on “Game of Thrones.” He takes over the role from Ray Stevenson, who played Baylan in season 1 and died in 2023.
The recast was first reported in January 2025. Dave Filoni has said McCann was picked in part because he respected Stevenson and could follow the “blueprint” Stevenson built for the character.
What happens in Ahsoka season 2?
Lucasfilm is keeping most of it quiet, but the teaser and the D23 panel gave a few clues:
Thrawn is back and rallying what’s left of the Empire
Anakin is still pushing and training Ahsoka, both as an adult and in flashbacks with her younger self
Ezra is finally home with his “Rebels” family after the season 1 finale
StarWars.com says the season digs into a big question for Ahsoka: whether she even thinks of herself as a Jedi anymore.
Dawson summed up the scale to StarWars.com. “This season is massive!” she said.
How many episodes are in Ahsoka season 2?
Eight episodes, all written by showrunner Dave Filoni, according to production listings. Filoni directs, along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Jennifer Getzinger and Anders Engstrom.
Disney hasn’t said yet whether it will drop more than one episode on premiere night. Season 1 opened with two episodes, then went weekly.
Filming ran from April to October 2025 in the United Kingdom, so the show has had plenty of time in post-production for all the space battles.

When is Ahsoka set in the Star Wars timeline?
After “Return of the Jedi.” “Ahsoka” takes place a few years after the Empire’s fall, in the same stretch of the timeline as “The Mandalorian.” Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau have been building a connected set of shows in that era, which is why Thrawn, Ezra, and the rest keep crossing paths with the Mandalorian side of things.
So if you’ve kept up with “The Mandalorian,” you already know the neighborhood.
Is Hayden Christensen getting a Darth Vader movie?
Not officially. At the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art’s opening gala on Sept. 19, Christensen told E! News that reports of a solo Vader film are “just rumors,” though he said he’d be “thrilled” to do it.
For now, Ahsoka season 2 is the only confirmed place to see him as Anakin again. Mark Jan. 20 on the calendar.
