Ezra Bridger actor Eman Esfandi says Ahsoka Season 2 brings more fan-favorite animated characters into live action. He didn't name them, and the season premieres Jan. 20, 2027, which is 78 days away.
Ezra Bridger just dropped a hint, and Star Wars fans are already making lists.
Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra in Ahsoka, said Season 2 includes other fan-favorite characters that viewers will "spend more time with in live action." He said it on a cast panel at LA Comic Con on Oct. 30, next to Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
"I think everyone's going to be really happy with them," Esfandi added, GamesRadar reported.
He didn't name names, and Lucasfilm hasn't either. But this show's whole thing is pulling characters out of The Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons and making them flesh and blood, so the tease tracks.
Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2027, on Disney+. That's 78 days from now, by our count.
Here's the Ahsoka Season 2 teaser trailer:
Which animated Star Wars characters are in Ahsoka Season 2?
Lucasfilm's official description for Season 2 names a familiar crew. Ahsoka and Sabine are trying to get home from beyond the known galaxy, while Hera, Ezra, Zeb and Chopper face Grand Admiral Thrawn, who wants to plunge the New Republic into war.
That's most of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels, all originally animated characters. Here's what's confirmed or shown so far:
Ezra Bridger: Back in the main galaxy for a full season.
Hera Syndulla: Getting a bigger role this time.
Zeb Orrelios: Spotted in the teaser. The actor hasn't been announced.
Chopper: Esfandi promised "a lot of Chopper."
Thrawn: Loose after escaping exile at the end of Season 1.
Anakin Skywalker: The trailer shows Clone Wars-era scenes with Ahsoka.
Dave Filoni has also said Admiral Ackbar will face off against Thrawn, GamesRadar reported.
Esfandi's wording was a little loose. "Spend more time with" could cover characters fans have already glimpsed, like Zeb. But he also said he's "very happy about the new characters," which sounds like more is coming.
Which characters do fans want in Ahsoka Season 2?
These are fan wishes, not confirmations. Nobody at Lucasfilm has said any of them are in the show.
Kanan Jarrus: Ezra's Jedi master from Rebels sits at the top of a lot of lists, ComicBook.com noted. Kanan died in Rebels, so fans are betting on a flashback or a Force ghost. His son, Jacen Syndulla, is already part of the live-action show.
Asajj Ventress: Her return is possible but not confirmed, The Direct noted.
The Mortis gods: Filoni has called them "definitely a thing." He hasn't said whether the Father, Son and Daughter will show up in person.
Our money is on Kanan memes flooding social media before January either way.
Who is returning for Ahsoka Season 2?
Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren
Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla
Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn
Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker
Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati
Rory McCann takes over as Baylan Skoll. Ray Stevenson played the role in Season 1 and died in 2023.
Winstead summed up her season simply: "I'm in this season a bit more, which is fun."
When does Ahsoka Season 2 come out?
Season 2 starts streaming on Disney+ on Jan. 20, 2027. Lucasfilm revealed the date along with the first trailer at the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim in August.
Filming wrapped in 2025, GamesRadar reported. Season 1 premiered in August 2023, so fans will have waited almost three and a half years between seasons by the time it lands.
That's a long time to sit with Ezra and Thrawn's cliffhanger. Patience is a Jedi virtue, and Star Wars fans have had plenty of practice.
