All eight Harry Potter films return to theaters, and Regal starts early
Warner Bros.’ 25th anniversary run goes August 27 through September 3, but Regal begins August 25 with one film per day. Sorcerer’s Stone carries 12 minutes of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage.
Every Harry Potter film is going back on the big screen, and the earliest showing is sooner than the announcement says.
Warner Bros. set the global window at August 27 through September 3 to mark 25 years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Regal Cinemas is running its own schedule starting August 25, two days ahead.
Tickets went on sale July 31, which is Harry’s birthday.
Harry Potter movie theater dates and showtimes
The chains are not running identical calendars, so the date you want depends on where you’re going.
Regal screens one film per day across eight consecutive days, August 25 through September 1: Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows – Part 1, and Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Cinemark runs August 27 through September 2.
Warner’s official worldwide window is August 27 through September 3, with at least one guide reporting the announced U.S. and Canadian window as August 28 through September 3.
Participating U.S. chains include AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Megaplex, Harkins, and Marcus Theatres, with tickets through Fandango. Canadian showings run through Cineplex and Landmark.
Regal’s schedule lands the finale on September 1
Regal’s eight-day run ends with Deathly Hallows – Part 2 on September 1, which is the date students board the Hogwarts Express and the date Warner Bros. has built its annual Back to Hogwarts celebration around.
Watch it that way, and the saga finishes on the same calendar day it begins.
What the 12 minutes of new Harry Potter footage actually is
The 12 minutes is a behind-the-scenes feature attached to the anniversary presentation. It is not an extended cut and contains no new story scenes.
It is also attached only to Sorcerer’s Stone, not to the other seven films. And not every theater is guaranteed to run the anniversary presentation, so check that the listing specifically mentions it if that footage is why you’re going.
Search both Sorcerer’s Stone and Philosopher’s Stone, since the title changes by region.
Why 2026 is a big Harry Potter year
Sorcerer’s Stone opened in 2001 under director Chris Columbus, and the eight-film series has grossed more than $7.7 billion worldwide.
The HBO television adaptation premieres Christmas Day on HBO Max, beginning with a season covering the first book.
Universal is running 25th anniversary programming across its parks through September 1, and Warner Bros. Discovery has live fan events in four global regions.
Anyone planning to do the full eight-film run should know the total sits somewhere around nineteen hours before trailers. Regal spreading it across eight days is the humane version.
