FX gave AHS its first renewal in nearly seven years, right after a Season 13 that brought back the Coven witches, Twisty the Clown and Rubber Man. The Season 13 finale is Oct. 29.
Fans who thought Season 13 was the end of American Horror Story can relax. The scares aren’t over.
FX has renewed American Horror Story for Season 14, Laughing Place reported Tuesday, Oct. 20. The news came just days before the Season 13 finale on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Even 13 seasons in, the anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk is still pulling in big numbers. Season 13 had the show’s biggest streaming premiere ever.
Why did fans think AHS would end with Season 13?
Because of how FX renewed it last time. In January 2020, FX picked up American Horror Story for three more seasons at once, covering Seasons 11, 12 and 13.
A horror show wrapping up with lucky number 13 felt a little too perfect, so plenty of fans assumed that was the plan. The Season 14 pickup is the show’s first renewal in nearly seven years.
What is American Horror Story Season 13 about?
Season 13 is a big reunion. It brought back fan-favorite characters from across the series, including:
Cordelia Goode, Madison Montgomery and Marie Laveau from Coven
Constance Langdon and Rubber Man from Murder House
Twisty the Clown from Freak Show
Kai Anderson from Cult
The cast is full of AHS regulars, too, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Gabourey Sidibe.
When is the American Horror Story Season 13 finale?
There are three episodes left. The next two drop this Thursday, Oct. 22, and the season finale is Thursday, Oct. 29, just in time for Halloween.
New episodes air on FX and stream on Hulu. Outside the U.S., the season streams on Disney+.
When will American Horror Story Season 14 come out?
FX hasn’t announced a premiere date, a theme or a cast for Season 14 yet.
The show usually keeps its new themes secret for a long time, and the story often isn’t revealed until close to the premiere. So expect a lot of fan theories between now and then.
How big is American Horror Story?
Huge, by TV standards. American Horror Story is the longest-running hour-long series in FX’s history, and it has picked up more than 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins since it premiered in 2011.
It has also spun off American Horror Stories, a shorter anthology with standalone episodes.
Is American Horror Story a Disney show?
Sort of. FX is owned by Disney, and the show streams on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in other countries.
So yes, the same company that runs the Haunted Mansion is also behind one of TV’s scariest shows. Just maybe don’t make it family movie night.
What was American Horror Story Season 12?
Season 12 was American Horror Story: Delicate, starring Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian. It was based on Danielle Valentine’s novel “Delicate Condition” and aired in two parts, in fall 2023 and spring 2024.
That made it the first AHS season adapted from a book. Season 13 went the other direction, leaning hard on nostalgia and familiar faces instead of a brand-new story.
Where can you watch every season of American Horror Story?
All the past seasons stream on Hulu in the U.S., so there’s plenty of time for a full rewatch before Season 14 shows up. Outside the U.S., the series streams on Disney+.
If you want the Coven witches before the Season 13 finale, Season 3 is the one to start with.
