Angel is officially joining Disney’s Lilo & Stitch 2

Angel, the pink alien known as Experiment 624, is officially joining Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch 2. The news came at D23 from Maia Kealoha, who returns as Lilo and who spent last year telling interviewers Angel was the character she wanted most.
At D23 in Anaheim, Disney confirmed that Angel, the pink alien officially designated Experiment 624, will appear in the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2. The reveal came during a panel presented by Maia Kealoha, who returns as Lilo after the 2025 remake.
Fans have wanted this since the sequel was announced. So, as it turns out, did the twelve-year-old playing Lilo.
Maia Kealoha asked for Angel a year ago
Back in August 2025, while promoting the first film, Kealoha was asked what she wanted from a sequel and gave a specific answer.
“I definitely want two new more characters,” she told ComicBook, with one condition: they had to be aliens. Then she named names. “I really want to see how they’ll make Angel,” Kealoha said, adding that she also wanted the sandwich-eating one, meaning Reuben.
A year later, she’s the one standing at D23 announcing Angel is in. Half her wish list, granted, and she got to deliver it herself.
Who Angel is, for anyone who skipped the show
Angel debuted in Lilo & Stitch: The Series, the 2003 animated show that followed Lilo and Stitch as they tracked down Jumba’s other 625 experiments.
She’s the pink counterpart to Stitch’s blue, same basic build, longer antennae, palette swapped. The in-universe term for what she is to him is boojiboo, Tantalog for sweetheart, and she’s been treated as his other half by fans ever since.
Angel has also been a merchandising machine for two decades, plus a costumed character at Disney parks. She’s appeared most often at Tokyo Disney Resort and Disneyland Paris, and she’s been a regular at Aulani in Hawaii since February 14, 2021, which is a very on-the-nose date for Stitch’s sweetheart.
Angel is not actually a cute sidekick
Angel’s ability is a song. She sings in Tantalog, and the song reverts other experiments to their original evil programming. Sung backwards, it turns them good again. It’s a genuinely unsettling power for a character who looks like a plush toy.
And her introduction was a betrayal. Angel was working for the villain Gantu, sent specifically to turn Stitch against Lilo. She got redeemed, obviously, but she arrived as a threat and a heartbreak before she was anybody’s sweetheart.
So if the sequel adapts any of that, it has real conflict sitting right there. Disney doesn’t have to invent a reason for her to cause problems.
The 2025 movie already planted her
This isn’t a fresh idea. The remake set it up on screen and most people missed it.
Late in 2025’s Lilo & Stitch, Zach Galifianakis‘ Dr. Jumba Jookiba flips through his catalog of experiments while trying to strip Stitch of his empathy. Experiment 624 is in there, a pink, feminine, long-antennaed creature that fans noticed immediately.
Producer Jonathan Eirich all but confirmed the intent at the time, telling ComicBook the Easter eggs pointed toward Angel, Reuben, and Experiment 627, and calling it “a really rich world out there,” while stopping short of committing to any of it.
Lilo and Stitch 2 hits theaters on May 28, 2028.
