Arby’s added three Chicken Cheesesteaks on Oct. 12, priced from $7.49 to $8.49. Two reviewers split on the Deluxe, and the add-ons cost more than you’d think. We did the math.
Arby’s has the meats. Now it has chicken cheesesteaks, too.
The chain added three Chicken Cheesesteaks on Oct. 12, for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide, according to Arby’s parent company, Inspire Brands. Prices start at $7.49, The Takeout reported, though they can vary by location.
There’s no end date. Tasting Table says they’re around “while supplies last.”
How much is the Arby’s Chicken Cheesesteak?
Prices come from The Takeout and Tasting Table. Calories come from Arby’s own menu.
Chicken Cheesesteak: $7.49, 660 calories
Spicy Chicken Cheesesteak: $7.99, 760 calories
Chicken Deluxe Cheesesteak: $8.49, 670 calories
Arby’s website also lists Half Pound versions of all three, which the announcement doesn’t mention. The Half Pound Spicy hits 1,250 calories.
You can order them in the restaurant, at the drive-thru, online or in the Arby’s app.
What’s on the Arby’s Chicken Cheesesteak?
Seasoned chicken, melty American Cooper Cheese and caramelized onions on a toasted sesame roll, Inspire Brands says.
The chicken gets marinated in a spice blend with garlic, onion and paprika. Then it’s seared, sliced and cooked sous vide, which means sealed up and cooked slowly in warm water.
The other two start from there:
The Deluxe adds shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
The Spicy adds a spicy glaze.
Is the Arby’s Chicken Cheesesteak worth it?
The two early reviews agree on the basic one and disagree on the Deluxe.
The Takeout’s reviewer picked the regular version as the best of the three, saying “the classic Chicken Cheesesteak is the way to go.”
The Spicy came in a close second, with a glaze a bit like Buffalo sauce. Just don’t eat it in the car. “But man, is it messy,” the review said.
The Deluxe? Skip it, according to The Takeout. The warm chicken wilts the lettuce right away.
Tasting Table saw it the other way. Its reviewer called the Deluxe “definitely an upgrade,” saying the vegetables broke up a dense sandwich and somehow brought out a creaminess. The Spicy was on the mild side, though the heat built after a few bites.
The reviews split on the chicken, too. The Takeout found it soft enough to be a little mushy, while Tasting Table said it stayed juicy even after reheating. The Takeout also called about $8 “a bit steep for a chicken sandwich.”
Are the Arby’s cheesesteak add-ons worth the money?
By our math, the extras cost a lot for what you get:
Deluxe: lettuce and tomato add $1 and only 10 calories.
Spicy: the glaze adds 50 cents and 100 calories.
So the Deluxe is a dollar for some vegetables, and one of the two reviewers wouldn’t pay it.
Which Arby’s Chicken Cheesesteak should you order?
Going by both reviews:
Play it safe: the regular Chicken Cheesesteak, the cheapest one and The Takeout’s top pick.
Want heat: the Spicy, but take it home. Tasting Table found the heat mild.
Want veggies: the Deluxe, if you don’t mind warm lettuce. The reviews split on it, so it’s a coin flip.
One more note from The Takeout: the bread is “almost too soft.”
Does Arby’s still have the Angus Cheesesteak?
Yes. Arby’s made its Angus Cheesesteak a permanent menu item on June 15, 2026, Inspire Brands announced. It started at $8.29, The Takeout reported.
At $7.49, the regular chicken version is 80 cents cheaper than that, or about 10% less. The Deluxe costs 20 cents more than the Angus.
When the beef version went permanent, Arby’s chief marketing officer Jeff Baker said the team went to Philadelphia “to understand what makes a great cheesesteak.”
Arby’s June ad for the Angus Cheesesteak:
Has Arby’s had cheesesteaks before?
Lots of them. Chicken is the new part. A short history:
2017: a Fire-Roasted Philly, part of a regional sandwich lineup, Eat This reported.
August 2020: Classic and Spicy Prime Rib Cheesesteaks, for a limited time, Fast Food Post reported.
August 2022: the Prime Rib Cheesesteak returned for around $6.50, Brand Eating reported.
September 2023: a Classic Cheesesteak and a Bacon Ranch Cheesesteak, Eat This reported.
June 2025: a limited-time cheesesteak with Angus steak, which cost $7.99, Chowhound reported.
The Takeout also lists the old Philly Beef Supreme and the Ultimate Angus Philly among Arby’s past cheesesteaks.
What else is new at Arby’s this fall?
The cheesesteaks join a busy few months:
Steak Nuggets came back Aug. 24, with a new Horsey Ranch sauce and a Steak ‘n Potato Bowl.
Arby’s upgraded its loyalty program to Loaded Rewards on Aug. 24.
From Sept. 15 to 18, Loaded Rewards members could get free five-piece Steak Nuggets, for the first 100,000 qualifying orders of $10 or more.
All of that comes from Inspire Brands’ announcements.
Why is Arby’s adding more cheesesteaks?
Arby’s hasn’t said. But the sub shop competition is real.
Arby’s had 3,265 restaurants at the end of 2025, down from 3,415 in 2023, Restaurant Dive reported. Jersey Mike’s, a sub chain famous for its cheesesteaks, grew from 2,387 to 3,227 in that time.
That puts the two chains within about 40 stores of each other.
What are some fun facts about Arby’s cheesesteaks?
The cheese has a Philly pedigree. The Takeout identified it as Cooper Sharp white American, a name a lot of cheesesteak fans know.
It’s a fancy-restaurant trick at a drive-thru. Arby’s says it cooks this chicken sous vide after searing it.
The Spicy is the heaviest of the three. It has 100 more calories than the regular, just from the glaze.
Arby’s still has the meats. Philly purists will have notes.
