Endgame Encore hits theaters Sept. 25 with an exclusive Avengers: Doomsday preview, and IMAX screens get an extended version. It runs about four minutes longer than the original.
“Avengers: Endgame” is coming back to theaters this Friday, Sept. 25, seven years after it first opened.
It isn’t coming back alone. The re-release, titled “Avengers: Endgame Encore,” includes an exclusive preview of “Avengers: Doomsday,” which doesn’t open until Dec. 18.
That makes a 2019 movie the only place to see new Doomsday footage on a big screen before Christmas.

What is Avengers: Endgame Encore?
The original film, back in theaters for a limited run, with Doomsday material attached.
Marvel is putting it in IMAX and in Infinity Vision, a new certification for premium large-format theaters. The certification is meant to guarantee big screens, bright images and strong sound, which is Marvel’s way of telling you where it wants you to watch this.
Tickets are on sale now through Fandango.
How much Doomsday footage is in Endgame Encore?
Marvel hasn’t said.
Theater listings show Encore running about 185 minutes, roughly four minutes longer than the original 181-minute cut. Marvel hasn’t said how much of that extra time is Doomsday or where the footage sits in the showing.
What Marvel has confirmed is that every showing includes the Doomsday preview, and that IMAX and Infinity Vision screens get an additional extended sneak peek on top of it.
So if the footage is why you’re going, the premium screens are where to buy, which of course gives them more money at the box office.
When does Avengers: Doomsday come out?
Dec. 18, 2026.
It’s the first of two new Avengers films, with “Avengers: Secret Wars” following it. Marvel showed new Doomsday footage and a poster at D23 in August, with cast members on stage, and that footage hasn’t been released publicly since.
The casting news that got the loudest reaction was Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise as Doctor Doom, the villain, rather than as Tony Stark.
Why is Marvel re-releasing Endgame now?
Timing, mostly, and money.
Endgame is one of the highest-grossing films ever made, and it’s the natural bridge to what comes next. Putting it back in theaters three months before Doomsday reminds people where the story left off. Attaching exclusive footage gives fans a reason to buy a ticket for a movie they already own.
It also fills a quiet weekend. Late September usually belongs to horror and smaller releases, and a premium-format event title can take a lot of IMAX screens without much competition.
How long is Endgame Encore in theaters?
Marvel hasn’t announced an end date. Limited re-releases like this usually run a week or two on premium screens before those screens go to the next big release.
With the extra Doomsday footage the main draw, the first weekend is when the premium screens will be hardest to get.
For anyone planning a rewatch first, Endgame and the rest of the Infinity Saga are all on Disney+. The three hours at home are free. The four new minutes are not.
