Between Steps, a new K-drama starring Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun, premieres Monday, Oct. 5, at 10 p.m. Korea time on ENA, Soompi and Korean outlet Tenasia reported. A new trailer dropped this week, and it’s already got fans emotional.
What is Between Steps about?
Choo Young-woo plays Park Min-jae, a former swimmer who lost his leg to an illness and is now working on a Ph.D. in robotics.
Kim So-hyun plays Im Yoo-jin, a graduate student who’s trying to find a new direction after losing her way.
The two fall for each other, but Min-jae struggles to let her all the way in. The Korean title, 연애박사, roughly means “Love Doctor,” which is a nice nod to two people working on doctorates while figuring out love.
What happens in the Between Steps trailer?
The trailer, as translated by Soompi, starts off flirty. Yoo-jin tells Min-jae, “If you don’t want this, tell me now. Three, two, one.”
Then things get harder. Min-jae doesn’t want to take off his prosthetic leg in front of her, and he pulls back. “I’m not the right person for you,” he says. Later, he tells her, “I think this is as far as we go.”
Yoo-jin pushes right back: “Do you really not have the courage to hold onto me?”
The trailer’s Korean title calls it a spicy, bitter and sweet romance, and that pretty much covers it.
When and where can I watch Between Steps?
Between Steps airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 PM KST on ENA, starting Oct. 5. In the U.S., that’s 9 AM Eastern on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
In Korea, it’ll also stream on Genie TV and Disney+ right after each episode airs, Tenasia reported. International streaming details haven’t been confirmed yet, so keep an eye out if you’re outside Korea.
Some fan sites list 12 episodes, but the network hasn’t confirmed that number.
Who directed Between Steps?
The drama is the final work of director Ahn Pan-seok, who died after finishing filming and post-production, Korean media reported. He was known for romance dramas like Something in the Rain and One Spring Night.
The script is by Min Hyo-jung, a writer on the classic K-drama Full House. It’s an original story written for TV.
Who is Choo Young-woo?
Choo Young-woo has had a huge couple of years. He broke out in JTBC’s The Tale of Lady Ok and played Yang Jae-won in Netflix’s hit medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call in 2025.
He also starred in Head Over Heels and Mercy for None that same year. Between Steps is his big 2026 project.
What has Kim So-hyun been in lately?
Kim So-hyun starred in JTBC’s Good Boy in 2025, playing former shooting star Ji Han-na opposite Park Bo-gum. That show streamed internationally on Prime Video.
She’s been acting since she was a kid, so she’s one of the most familiar faces in K-dramas.
Who else is in the Between Steps cast?
Kim Min-seok and Shim Hye-jin also star, according to MyDramaList.
Is Between Steps worth watching?
If you like romances that take their time and hit you in the feelings, it sounds like a good bet. The trailer mixes cute banter with real stakes, and the director’s past work is known for exactly that kind of slow, careful love story.
