The former Disney CEO is set to sit down with Robin Roberts on Wednesday, Oct. 21. It comes weeks after Bob Chapek’s memoir accused Iger of working to get his old job back.
Bob Iger has been out of the corner office for seven months. He’s not out of the spotlight.
The former Disney CEO is set to sit down with Robin Roberts on Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to ABC’s lineup for next week, which What’s On Disney Plus shared on Friday.
The schedule doesn’t say what Iger will talk about, LaughingPlace noted. Fans have a pretty good guess.
ABC’s list puts the interview on Wednesday’s lineup for both Good Morning America and GMA3, What’s On Disney Plus reported. LaughingPlace pegged it for GMA3.
When is Bob Iger on Good Morning America?
Wednesday, Oct. 21. Good Morning America airs from 7 to 9 a.m. ET on ABC, and GMA3 airs weekdays at 1 p.m. ET, according to What’s On Disney Plus.
Both shows stream live on Disney+, and episodes are available the next day on Hulu and Disney+ for a limited time.
Actress Olivia Munn is also on Wednesday’s GMA lineup, so it’s a busy morning.
When did Bob Iger stop being Disney CEO?
In March. Josh D’Amaro took over as Disney CEO on March 18, LaughingPlace reported.
It was Iger’s second exit from the job. He ran Disney from 2005 to 2020, handed the job to Bob Chapek, then came back in November 2022 after the board pushed Chapek out.
He hasn’t exactly disappeared since March. Iger was named a Disney Legend and accepted the honor at D23 in August. He also got a window on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland, LaughingPlace noted.
What is Bob Chapek’s book about Bob Iger?
It’s called Behind the Castle Walls, and it’s Chapek’s new memoir about his time as CEO. LaughingPlace said the book paints Iger in a negative light. It accuses him of starting a plan to undermine Chapek and win back the top job.
Iger hasn’t made any major public comment about it, according to LaughingPlace. The outlet said it’s hard to believe the GMA interview won’t at least touch on the book, and it could be the main topic.
We covered Chapek’s claims when the book came out in September.
What else is Bob Iger doing now?
Basketball, for one. Iger is part of a group that recently bought the Los Angeles Lakers, LaughingPlace reported. We covered that deal in August.
There’s also another book coming. The House of Mouse, an unauthorized biography of Iger, comes out Dec. 1, as we reported in September.
So between Chapek’s memoir, a biography he didn’t write and an NBA team, Iger has plenty of material.
Has Bob Iger been on GMA before?
Plenty of times. He went on GMA in August 2024 to preview D23 and talk about Moana 2 and a possible Inside Out 3, LaughingPlace reported at the time.
ABC is part of Disney, so the former boss is basically visiting an old office. Robin Roberts has anchored GMA for more than 20 years and knows how to get a guest talking.
Who runs Disney now?
Josh D’Amaro, the longtime head of Disney’s parks business. He’ll appear on Disney’s next quarterly earnings call, LaughingPlace noted.
That call usually brings news about the parks, Disney+ and box office, so it’s one to watch too.
Who else is on Good Morning America next week?
A busy one, according to ABC’s schedule shared by What’s On Disney Plus:
Monday, Oct. 19: Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson, plus NBA Commissioner Adam Silver
Tuesday, Oct. 20: Connie Britton and Sam Nivola of Phony
Wednesday, Oct. 21: Bob Iger with Robin Roberts, plus Olivia Munn
Thursday, Oct. 22: Former NBA player Russell Westbrook with Michael Strahan
Iger and Silver on the same week is a lot of basketball talk for a morning show.
Will Bob Iger talk about Bob Chapek on GMA?
Nobody knows yet. ABC’s schedule only says Iger sits down with Roberts.
If he does weigh in, it would be his biggest public response to Chapek’s book so far. If he doesn’t, expect plenty of fans to notice what he skipped.
