The former Disney CEO’s second book arrives March 2, 2027. Random House says it covers two proxy fights, the 2023 strikes, AI and ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
Bob Iger has one more Disney story to tell.
The former Disney CEO will publish “One Last Time: Managing Crisis and Building Resilience at Disney” on March 2, 2027, Random House announced Tuesday, Oct. 20, BlogMickey reported.
The book covers Iger’s second run as CEO, from November 2022 to 2026. Iger wrote it with Dan Schwerin.
What is Bob Iger’s book One Last Time about?
Random House calls it the inside story of Iger’s return to Disney. According to the publisher, Iger came back to a company dealing with one crisis after another, and the pressure taught him new lessons about leadership.
The announcement names some of the biggest challenges from those years:
Two hostile proxy battles over seats on Disney’s board
The 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes
The rise of AI
ABC’s temporary suspension of Jimmy Kimmel
“This is a comeback story,” Iger said. He added that it’s about what Disney needed to find its way back to its core values and what that journey taught him about leading through change.
Is One Last Time a sequel to The Ride of a Lifetime?
Pretty much. Iger’s first book, “The Ride of a Lifetime,” came out in 2019 and covered his first 15 years as Disney’s CEO. It became a bestseller.
“One Last Time” picks up where that story left off, after Iger came back to replace Bob Chapek in November 2022.
Will One Last Time talk about the Disney parks?
Maybe, but don’t count on a lot. Random House’s description doesn’t mention the theme parks.
Iger’s second run did include a plan to “turbocharge” Disney Experiences with about $60 billion in new investment. That stretch is also when Disney announced projects like Tropical Americas, Monstropolis and Villains Land. So park fans may get a few pages, but the book seems mostly focused on the business and leadership side.
When did Bob Iger leave Disney?
Iger handed the CEO job to Josh D’Amaro at Disney’s annual meeting on March 18, 2026. He’s still a senior advisor and board member until he officially retires on Dec. 31, 2026.
That means “One Last Time” will hit shelves about two months after Iger formally leaves the company.
How can you get One Last Time?
Random House will release it in hardcover and ebook on March 2, and Penguin Random House Audio will put out an audiobook the same day. Iger reads the audiobook himself.
The publisher hasn’t announced a price or page count yet.
What other books are coming out about Disney’s CEOs?
This is turning into a full bookshelf. “One Last Time” is the third book about the same era of Disney leadership:
“Behind the Castle Walls” by Bob Chapek came out in September. In it, Chapek blames Iger for his 2022 firing.
“The House of Mouse” by longtime Wall Street Journal reporter Robbie Whelan, an unauthorized biography, comes out Dec. 1.
“One Last Time” by Bob Iger arrives March 2, 2027.
Iger’s book will be the only one of the three told from his own point of view.
Where else will Bob Iger show up this week?
Iger is also set to sit down with Robin Roberts for an interview on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Oct. 21, on ABC.
Between that, Chapek’s memoir and a brand-new book on the way, Disney’s CEO drama is shaping up to be one of the more entertaining stories of the year. And Disney fans will have plenty of reading to do before the 2027 park openings.
