Bob Weis and Joe Rohde are signing books at Mickey's of Glendale
The Imagineering campus store returns to the D23 show floor with three new collections. Two of the people who built the modern Disney parks are behind the table all three days.
Joe Rohde built Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Bob Weis ran Walt Disney Imagineering.
Both are signing books at the Mickey’s of Glendale booth at D23, August 14 through 16.
That’s an unusual thing to be able to walk up to. The store itself is the Imagineering campus shop, named for its original home in Glendale, California, and it sells the merchandise Imagineers make for Imagineers.
What Mickey’s of Glendale is selling at D23 2026
Three collections, announced August 10.
A Walt Disney Imagineering Pavilion collection. A Horizons collection, tied to the pavilion theme running across the show floor and Saturday’s parks showcase. And a set of exclusive D23 pins.
Disney has said it will continue posting first-look photos and design team notes through the event.
Why the Mickey’s of Glendale booth draws the line it does
It’s the closest thing on the floor to buying from the people who build the parks.
Most D23 merchandise is licensed product with a character on it. The Glendale assortment is designed by and for the department that draws attractions, which gives it a different flavor and a specific audience: collectors, park history people, and anyone who wants the version an Imagineer would wear.
That audience is small and it shows up early.
Who Bob Weis and Joe Rohde are
Worth knowing if the names don’t land.
Rohde spent decades at Imagineering and led the creation of Animal Kingdom, along with the Adventurers Club and significant work across the Disney parks. He appeared in Thursday’s Disney Legends Cavalcade at Disneyland.
Weis served as president of Walt Disney Imagineering and worked on projects across the company’s global portfolio, including the development of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Both have written about the work. A signing table at a merchandise booth is a modest venue for either of them.
Where to find Mickey’s of Glendale at D23
On the show floor at the Anaheim Convention Center, alongside the D23 Marketplace, the new D23 Marketplace Pin Store, and Disney .YNSD, a new concept from the Mickey’s of Glendale team.
The Imagineering pavilion sits nearby, which makes for a reasonable loop: look at the models, then buy something made by the people who built them.
