The MADtv and Bad Friends star taped his first hour in his hometown of San Diego, and Hulu is dropping it the day after Thanksgiving. Bill Burr is one of the executive producers.
Bobby Lee has been telling jokes on stage for decades. He just never got around to a special. The title is the punchline.
Bobby Lee: Finally, his first hour-long stand-up special, premieres Friday, Nov. 27, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. Hulu released the trailer Wednesday, Nov. 4. Outside the U.S., it streams on Disney+.
Nov. 27 is the day after Thanksgiving, so this one is built for the leftovers-on-the-couch crowd. Shopping is optional. Stand-up is mandatory.
Hulu calls the special "Outrageous, unfiltered, and unapologetically real," Laughing Place reported. Hulu says it draws on decades of stories, delivered with Lee's usual candid, high-energy chaos.
Lee has been open for years about his anxiety over making a first special, Laughing Place noted back in January. He clearly got over it, or at least got through it.
Here's the trailer for Bobby Lee: Finally:
Where was Bobby Lee: Finally filmed?
At the Balboa Theatre in San Diego, Lee's hometown. He taped it in January, the weekend after Hulu first announced the special on Jan. 14.
Lee was born in San Diego in 1971. So this was a home game, with the added pressure of every relative and old classmate knowing exactly where you are.
Who directed Bobby Lee: Finally?
Louis Katz directed it, and North Hill Productions produced it. Lee is an executive producer alongside Bill Burr and Mike Bertolina.
Burr knows the Hulu stand-up business well. He has released his own specials on the streamer, including Bill Burr: Drop Dead Years.
Who is Bobby Lee?
If you watched sketch comedy in the 2000s, you know him. If you listen to comedy podcasts now, you really know him. The highlights:
MADtv: cast member from 2001 until the show ended in 2009, and the first Asian cast member in its history
Movies: Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Pineapple Express and The Dictator
TV: Jin Jeong on Magnum P.I. and Dr. Kang on Reservation Dogs, which streamed on FX on Hulu
TigerBelly: the video podcast he has hosted with Khalyla Kuhn since 2015
Bad Friends: the podcast he has co-hosted with Andrew Santino since 2020
Here's the fun part. Santino already has a Hulu stand-up special. So Lee is technically catching up to his own podcast co-host. Expect that to come up on Bad Friends.
Lee also spent 2026 on The Finally Tour, which hit Australia and New Zealand in August. Yes, same name. The man commits to a theme.
What other stand-up specials are on Hulu?
Finally is part of Hulu's Hularious stand-up brand, which has gotten pretty crowded. Earlier Hularious specials come from:
Ralph Barbosa, Bill Burr, Chris Distefano and Jamie Foxx
Jim Gaffigan, Zarna Garg, Nikki Glaser and Ilana Glazer
Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco and Kumail Nanjiani
Atsuko Okatsuka, Frankie Quinones, Andrew Santino and Roy Wood Jr.
An Andy Samberg special is coming, too, Laughing Place reported.
That's a lot of comedians for one streamer. Disney, the company that brought you Mickey Mouse, now runs one of the busiest stand-up shops in streaming. Walt would have had questions.
How can I watch Bobby Lee: Finally?
When: Friday, Nov. 27
In the U.S.: Hulu, plus Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers
Outside the U.S.: Disney+
Hulu hasn't said what time it drops, so check the app Friday morning, somewhere between the pie and the doorbuster deals.
Lee waited a long time for this one. One more holiday weekend won't hurt.
