A frequent question by guests asks whether they can bring their own food or drinks into a Walt Disney World theme park or water park. The answer is yes, but there are some guidelines.
Here are some of the guidelines and restrictions you need to know about,
Allowed Food and Containers: Visitors may carry personal food items in small, soft-sided coolers or containers. Ice packs or loose ice are allowed, but dry ice and glass containers are not permitted, except for small glass baby food jars.
Prohibited Items: Guests cannot bring alcoholic beverages or large coolers. Cooler dimensions must not exceed 24 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 18 inches high. Additionally, any food requiring heating or extended refrigeration is discouraged.
Dining Areas: Food brought into the parks should be enjoyed in appropriate dining locations or designated picnic areas. Eating is not permitted within attraction lines or inside attractions themselves.
This food policy is enforced across all four Walt Disney World parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
However, Disney's Animal Kingdom may want guests to avoid strongly scented foods or any items that may be potentially hazardous to animals.
If you have any questions about what you can or can not bring into the park, Disney Guest Services will be happy to help you.
Bringing your own food is a great way to save money during your trip. Drinks and snacks can add up quickly, and this can help offset those costly add-ons.
You may want to consider bringing a water bottle that you can refill and add drink mixes to instead of paying $5 for a drink.
There is nothing wrong with bringing your own. I have done it before, and it can save you a bundle. It can also be a lifesaver if you have a picky eater.
You can save on eating in the parks by sharing.
Eating in the parks can be very expensive. However, we have found that some locations have larger portion sizes that can easily be split amongst our family. You may also want to consider this option if you really want to enjoy a Disney meal.
