The Cartoonito section of the Cartoon Network app has been removed, according to X users who keep tabs on the channel. “The Cartoonito section that was on the Cartoon Network app has been removed,” TV news account spongieupdatestv said in a post on X on Friday, Sept. 25.
The shows didn’t vanish with it. Per that post, the remaining Cartoonito series are still in the app, now mixed in with the rest of Cartoon Network’s lineup.
Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns Cartoon Network, hasn’t announced the change.
What happened to Cartoonito on the Cartoon Network app?
It lost its own section. Cartoonito used to have a dedicated spot in the app for its preschool shows, and X users say that spot is now gone.
Another user, David Marchie, posted Friday night that Cartoonito was removed from the Cartoon Network app.
A few hours after the first report, cartoon news account ToonHive went further. In its own post, it said Cartoonito “has silently and completely gone defunct in the United States.”
Which Cartoonito shows are still on the Cartoon Network app?
Per spongieupdatestv, Bugs Bunny Builders, Batwheels, Barney’s World, Care Bears and Baby Looney Tunes are still on the app, sitting with the general Cartoon Network content.
So if your kid watches Batwheels, nothing has changed except where you find it. The little Cartoonito label on the door is what’s gone.
Did Cartoonito already end on TV?
Yes, more than a year ago. The Cartoonito programming block on Cartoon Network ended on May 23, 2025.
ComicBook.com reported that day that Warner Bros. Discovery “has yet to make an official statement” about it. The block simply stopped showing up on the channel.
That left the app section as one of the last places in the U.S. where the Cartoonito name still showed up. Now that’s gone too, according to these posts.
Why did Cartoonito shut down in the U.S.?
That’s still a mystery, at least officially. WBD didn’t give a reason when the TV block ended, and it hasn’t commented on the app change.
ToonHive has its own explanation. It said shows that were planned for Cartoonito “have been mostly cancelled due to the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.”
The account didn’t say which shows were cut or which deal it meant, and no other source has backed that up yet. So for now, treat it as one account’s claim.
When did Cartoonito launch?
Sept. 13, 2021. Cartoonito started as a weekday morning block on Cartoon Network and a content hub on HBO Max, aimed at kids ages 2 to 6.
It launched big. The block ran eight hours every weekday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., plus two hours on weekends. The very first episode was Baby Looney Tunes, one of the shows still hanging on in the app today.
Has Cartoon Network tried preschool shows before?
Yes. Cartoonito was the network’s second try.
The first was Tickle U, a weekday morning preschool block that launched on Aug. 22, 2005, and ended on Jan. 13, 2006. That’s less than five months.
One X user, Zack Friedman, put it in perspective in a reply to ToonHive: “I’ll give Cartoonito this, it lasted longer than Tickle U did.”
Nearly four years on TV is a much better run, even if it ended quietly.
Is Cartoonito still on TV in other countries?
Yes. The Cartoonito name lives on outside the U.S., including a channel in the U.K. and Ireland that’s still on the air.
In the U.S., though, the brand now seems to be down to reruns with no label. Batwheels is still there. It just doesn’t come with its own shelf anymore.
