The spicy take on the chain’s famous sauce joins the menu for good on Nov. 16, in dipping cups and 8-ounce bottles. Some fans are already asking if it will be hot enough.
The most famous sauce in fast food is getting a kick.
Chick-fil-A is adding Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce to its menu nationwide on Monday, Nov. 16, the company told Fox News Digital. It’s a permanent addition, so it’s not going anywhere after the holidays.
It’s a big deal for Chick-fil-A fans. It’s the chain’s first new permanent sauce in 10 years.
What is Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce?
It’s the classic Chick-fil-A Sauce with heat added. The company says it keeps the original’s mustard notes and smoky tang, then adds spicy peppers and a little sweetness.
Chick-fil-A’s menu team wanted to honor the original while still making something new, the company said.
Allison Duncan is Chick-fil-A’s director of menu and packaging. “We know our guests love bold, spicy flavors, and in our year of newstalgia, we’re turning up the heat on a classic,” she told Fox News Digital.
She called it “an exciting kick to the signature flavor our guests know and love.”
When can you get Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce?
Nov. 16, at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide.
It will come two ways:
In the regular dipping cups, like the other sauces at the counter and drive-thru.
In 8-ounce bottles, for people who want to keep some at home.
Chick-fil-A hasn’t shared a price for the bottle yet.
Why did Chick-fil-A make a spicy sauce?
Because customers kept asking for one. Chick-fil-A did a year of research, the company told Fox News Digital. Guests consistently picked a spicy version of the signature sauce as the one they most wanted added.
Fans on Reddit were already guessing it was coming before the announcement.
Some people were thrilled. One commenter joked, “You mean I no longer have to mix my CFA and Buffalo to make Chickfalo sauce anymore.”
Will Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce be spicy enough?
That’s the big question, and fans aren’t sure yet.
Some Reddit users were skeptical, Fox News Digital reported. “A big pet peeve of mine is so many food items that say ‘spicy’ but aren’t,” one wrote.
Another said most chains “market something ‘spicy’ and it barely has any kick.”
We’ll find out on Nov. 16. If you’re a heat seeker, you might want to grab a cup before you commit to a whole bottle.
When did Chick-fil-A last add a sauce?
In 2016, when Sweet and Spicy Sriracha joined the lineup. That’s a long gap for a chain where the sauces are half the fun.
Here’s a quick look at how the lineup grew, according to Fox News Digital:
1984: Honey Mustard, Barbeque and Polynesian were the first sauces at the restaurants.
2006: the original Chick-fil-A Sauce made its nationwide debut.
2016: Sweet and Spicy Sriracha was added.
2026: Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce arrives Nov. 16.
So the sauce most people think of as “the” Chick-fil-A sauce has only been on menus nationwide for about 20 years.
What is Chick-fil-A’s year of newstalgia?
It’s the theme of Chick-fil-A’s 80th anniversary, which the chain kicked off in January, Food On Demand reported. The idea is new twists on old favorites.
So far that has meant:
Retro packaging on the classic chicken sandwich, with vintage-style graphics.
Collectible Classic Cups for $3.99. Through July 1, 3,000 Gold Fan Cups worth a year of free entrees were hidden in the mix.
Frosted sodas and ice cream floats joining the menu for good.
Plush cows sold in restaurants.
This fall, Chick-fil-A also added Chicken and Waffles Sandwiches on Aug. 24, plus a S’mores Milkshake and S’mores Frosted Coffee for a limited time, the company said. The spicy sauce is the newest piece of the anniversary year.
Is Chick-fil-A adding other spicy items?
Maybe. Chick-fil-A tested spicy chicken strips at two restaurants in Georgia earlier this year, Fox News Digital reported.
The chain hasn’t said whether those strips are going national. But a spicy sauce and spicy strips would make a pretty natural pair.
For now, the sure thing is the sauce. Mark Nov. 16 on the calendar, and maybe keep a glass of lemonade handy.
