Child Who Plunged Off Disney Dream Fell Through Port Hole.
We now have some new information regarding the child who fell off of the Disney Cruise Lines ship on June 29.
According to USA TODAY, the child, age five, fell backward through a porthole after losing her balance on Deck 4. She fell into the water.
Authorities are investigating the incident after a father and daughter were rescued after going overboard on a Disney Cruise ship over the weekend.
According to USA TODAY, public information officer Veda Coleman-Wright responded to an email and gave them more information about the incident.
It seems that after the child fell her mother told her husband and he jumped into the ocean to save her.
He was able to get to the child and he treaded water until the rescue boat could reach them.
The rescue took 20 minutes from the child’s fall until they were back in a boat.
Other guests reported that the father said they were “Ok” but USA TODAY indicated that the 37-year-old man was hospitalized afterward. The little girl must have been okay because she was evaluated, but there are no reports of her being hospitalized.
Investigators are still looking into the incident.
A spokesperson for Disney said,
"We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.”
Thankfully the father and daughter seem to be mostly okay. He is a hero for sure!
