Disney is releasing Nicolas Cage’s Con Air and National Treasure on 4K Ultra HD for the first time, in SteelBook editions arriving Nov. 10, 2026. National Treasure also comes to digital 4K that day.
Two of the most rewatchable Nicolas Cage movies ever made are getting the 4K treatment.
Disney will release Con Air and National Treasure on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook on Tuesday, Nov. 10. It’s the first time either movie has been on a 4K disc, per JoBlo.
Each set comes with the 4K disc, a regular Blu-ray and a digital code. Disney hasn’t posted prices yet.
What’s on the Con Air 4K?
A new 4K restoration with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound, plus two featurettes: “A View from Above” and “The Destruction of Las Vegas.”
The movie runs about 115 minutes and is rated R for strong violence and language. If you own the digital version, you may already have Con Air in 4K. The disc is what’s new here.
Con Air came out in 1997 from Disney’s Touchstone label. Cage plays Cameron Poe, a former Army Ranger who’s just been paroled and is flying home when a planeload of prisoners takes over the plane.
The rest of the cast is loaded. John Malkovich, John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames and Dave Chappelle are all in it. The movie picked up two Oscar nominations, including one for the Trisha Yearwood ballad “How Do I Live,” written by Diane Warren.
What’s on the National Treasure 4K?
Same deal on picture and sound: a 4K restoration with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The extra is a commentary track with director Jon Turteltaub and Justin Bartha, who played Riley. Disney noted bonus features may vary by retailer, so check the listing before you order.
The movie runs about 131 minutes and is rated PG. The 4K digital version also shows up Nov. 10.
In National Treasure (2004), Cage plays Ben Gates, a historian who decides the best way to protect the Declaration of Independence is to steal it. There’s a treasure map on the back. Of course there is.

Is National Treasure 3 happening?
Maybe. It’s closer than it’s been in years.
Turteltaub made news in August at a live taping of the “National Treasure Hunt” podcast in Philadelphia. “It’s happening,” he told the crowd. “It’s finally real. Now, it’s ‘Hollywood real,’ meaning things could happen.”
He said Disney has approved a script. He also said “to whatever extent we can, everyone’s back,” which isn’t quite a signed contract for Cage. Disney declined to comment to The Hollywood Reporter at the time.
There’s no release date. But the timing on these 4K discs isn’t bad for a studio trying to get people excited about Ben Gates again.
Why do people love Con Air and National Treasure?
Because Nicolas Cage goes all in, every time.
Con Air is the loud one. It has the hair, the Southern accent and the famous “put the bunny back in the box” scene. It also crashes a plane into the Las Vegas Strip, which is what that second featurette is about.
National Treasure is the family-friendly one. It turned history class into a heist movie, and a whole generation of kids learned about invisible ink and Benjamin Franklin’s weird glasses from it.
Both came from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind Pirates of the Caribbean. That’s partly why they still feel so big on a TV screen.
How did the National Treasure movies do?
The first one made about $347 million worldwide. The sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, came out in 2007 and did even better, about $457 million.
Then the franchise went quiet for 15 years. Disney+ tried a spinoff series, National Treasure: Edge of History, in 2022. It lasted one season.
So for now, the SteelBooks are the newest way to see Ben Gates. Book of Secrets isn’t part of this release.
