D23: Disneyland brings back Remember... Dreams Come True, World of Color in 2027
Disney announced at D23 that three fan-favorite Disneyland Resort shows are returning in 2027. “Remember... Dreams Come True” and the original “World of Color” both come back in February, with the “Magic Happens” parade returning by summer.
Disneyland’s 2027 entertainment lineup is a reunion tour.
On the Horizons stage at D23 on August 15, host Neil Patrick Harris announced that three beloved Disneyland Resort shows are coming back next year: two nighttime spectaculars and a daytime parade.
Harris set it up by talking about his own nights in the park. “I have so many great memories under the stars with my kids,” he said. “I wish I could go back in time to relive them all over again.”
Then he essentially granted his own wish on Disney’s behalf.
“Remember... Dreams Come True” returns in February 2027, and it’s bigger
The headliner is the fireworks show that debuted for Disneyland’s 50th anniversary back in 2005, during the stretch the resort called The Happiest Homecoming on Earth.
A refreshed version of “Remember... Dreams Come True” returns to Disneyland park in February 2027. The show uses songs and familiar phrases from the park’s most popular attractions to tell the story of Walt’s dream for Disneyland.
The refresh expands the canvas considerably. Beyond the usual projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, the new version adds projections at Rivers of America, on the facade of “it’s a small world,” and all the way down Main Street, U.S.A.
The scheduling is worth reading closely. Disney says music and projections will run nightly, with fireworks added on select evenings. So the show goes up every night; the fireworks specifically don’t.
Julie Andrews’ voice is part of the show’s identity
One detail Disney highlighted in the announcement carries some weight this month.
The show is known for its vocal introduction from Julie Andrews, recorded when it debuted for the 50th. Disney’s announcement calls that out specifically while describing what’s coming back.
The timing is a little poignant. Andrews, now 90, spent the past few weeks in the news for stepping away from on-camera work, having turned down a return to The Princess Diaries and describing herself as largely retired. Disney also announced a documentary about her career, due on Disney+ in 2027.
Disney hasn’t detailed exactly what’s changed in the refreshed version, so how much of the original audio carries over isn’t spelled out. But her voice has been part of that show’s DNA for two decades.
The original “World of Color” comes back to California Adventure
Over at Disney California Adventure, Harris revealed an updated take on the original “World of Color”, also arriving in February 2027.
This is the version built around Disney and Pixar animation rather than a single film’s story. It travels through The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story, with the water screens doing what they’ve always done best.
The score ties it together with a special arrangement of the 1960s television theme from Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, originally written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Pulling a Sherman Brothers TV theme into a modern water show is a deep-cut choice, and a good one.
“Magic Happens” parade returns by summer 2027
The daytime slot goes to “Magic Happens,” returning to Disneyland park in time for summer 2027.
Led by Mickey Mouse, the parade runs on floats, costumes, and a high-energy score, pulling moments from across Disney and Pixar. Pumpkins become carriages, swords come out of stones, with Cinderella, The Sword in the Stone, and Coco among the stories represented.
It’s the one of the three with the loosest date. February for the two nighttime shows, “just in time for summer” for the parade.
Everything announced is a return, not a debut
Here’s the thing to notice about the whole slate.
All three are revivals. Not one new show among them. Disneyland’s 2027 entertainment plan, at least as announced Saturday, runs entirely on things that already existed and went away.
That’s not a complaint, exactly. “Remember... Dreams Come True” and “Magic Happens” are genuinely beloved, and the demand for their return has been loud for years. Disney is giving people the thing they kept asking for.
It does mean anyone hoping for something brand new is still waiting. Three shows come back, the castle gets a bigger light show, and Main Street gets projections it’s never had. For a lot of people who grew up on these, that’ll be plenty.
