Dairy Queen’s first Halloween menu, the Spellbound Series, runs Sept. 28 to Nov. 1, 2026. It includes $4 Mystery Blizzard Buddy plush keychains, and the rare golden one wins Blizzards for a year.
Dairy Queen is getting into the blind-box business, and one of the boxes has a pretty sweet prize inside.
Starting Monday, Sept. 28, DQ is selling Mystery Blizzard Buddies, little plush keychains that come sealed so you don’t know which one you’re getting. They cost $4 with any purchase.
There are five designs. Find the rare golden one, and you win Blizzard Treats for a year.
What are the DQ Mystery Blizzard Buddies?
Plush keychains shaped like Blizzards, each with a name. Per DQ’s announcement, the five are:
Blizabeth
Flip
Blenda
Brrrnie
Goldie, the rare gold one
The names are doing a lot of work, and we respect it. Brrrnie is our favorite.
They come in mystery packaging, so you won’t know who you got until you open it. There’s a limit of one per customer per transaction, and they’re only around while supplies last.
How do you win free Blizzards for a year?
Pull a Goldie. But there’s fine print.
The prize runs as a sweepstakes, and DQ says you have to be a DQ Rewards member to be eligible. You also have to be 18 or older and live in the U.S., Washington, D.C., or Canada. The sweepstakes ends Oct. 31.
Two places are left out: Texas and Quebec. Texas DQ restaurants run their own menu and promotions, which is why the state keeps missing out on national DQ deals.
DQ says the official rules will be posted at dairyqueen.com by Sept. 28. That page should spell out what “Blizzard Treats for a year” actually covers. DQ hasn’t shared the odds or how many Goldies are out there.
What’s on the DQ Halloween menu?
This is DQ’s first-ever Halloween collection, called the Spellbound Series. It runs Sept. 28 to Nov. 1 at participating U.S. locations, again minus Texas.
Enchanted Oreo Blizzard: Oreo cookie pieces and an ube-flavored base blended into soft serve, with purple shimmer mixed in. Ube is a purple yam that’s big in Filipino desserts and tastes a little like vanilla with a nutty edge.
Bubble Brew DQ Sparkler: blood orange and lemonade with sparkling water, topped with cold foam. DQ says “the more you stir, the more it bubbles and foams.”
Ghost Pepper Sauce: a spicy dip that pairs with the four-piece Chicken Strip Basket.
Prices vary by location.
Why is everyone collecting blind-box plush?
Because opening the box is half the fun.
Mystery toys have been huge for the last couple of years. Labubu turned blind boxes into a full-on craze, and a lot of brands have been chasing that feeling since. A $4 plush from a fast-food counter is a much cheaper way in.
It also gets people to come back. If you want all five, you’re probably looking at more than five trips, since you can only buy one per order and you can’t pick which one you get.
When did Dairy Queen invent the Blizzard?
DQ launched the Blizzard in 1985. It became famous for how it’s served: the worker flips the cup upside down to show it’s thick enough not to fall out. That’s probably where Flip got his name.
So yes, you could win a year of Blizzards with the Goldie. And if you open a Blenda instead, well, at least you probably got a purple Oreo Blizzard out of the trip.
