Disney is dropping bookings on a Monday night instead of the usual morning, the same trick it pulled with Beak & Barrel. Set an alarm.
The Diamond Horseshoe is coming back to Magic Kingdom, and getting a table is going to take some planning.
Reservations open at 8 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Sept. 29 for an Oct. 4 opening. That is an unusual time for Disney, which normally drops dining availability first thing in the morning, and it is the second time this year the company has done it.
Why is Disney opening reservations at night?
Because it worked the last time.
Disney used the same evening launch for Beak & Barrel, the pirate bar that opened in Adventureland earlier this year. Booking windows that open at 6 a.m. Eastern punish everyone on the West Coast and reward whoever is already awake. An 8 p.m. drop spreads the pain around, or at least spreads it differently.
It also keeps the crush off the phone lines during the busiest part of the operating day.
Whatever the reasoning, the practical effect is the same. If you want a table at the Diamond Horseshoe in its first weeks, you need to be on the app that Monday evening.
What is the Diamond Horseshoe pop-up?
A limited-time restaurant in the Frontierland saloon, running a brand new menu.
Disney has not published the menu yet. What the company has confirmed is that the pop-up replaces the family-style service the Diamond Horseshoe ran for years, and that the whole thing is temporary rather than a permanent reopening.
The Diamond Horseshoe has always been Magic Kingdom’s most inconsistent venue. It opened with the park in 1971 as a saloon show venue, spent decades as a seasonal overflow restaurant that would appear and vanish depending on crowd levels, and has cycled through more formats than almost anything else in the park.

What happened to Jessie’s Roundup?
It had the space, and it may get it back.
Jessie’s Roundup is a Toy Story 5 show that debuted in the Diamond Horseshoe for Disney’s Cool Kids’ Summer promotion. Because the incoming restaurant is explicitly limited-time, there is a real chance the show returns to the room once the pop-up wraps up.
Disney has not confirmed that either way.
Toy Story 5 has been turning up all over Walt Disney World lately. Disney Parks Blog announced this week that a character named Lilypad is bringing new music to Alien Swirling Saucers over at Hollywood Studios, and Imagineering filed a permit for that attraction on Sept. 16 covering audio, interactive elements and new signage.
How to actually get a Diamond Horseshoe reservation
Same rules as any hard-to-book Disney restaurant, with a tighter window.
Have the My Disney Experience app open and logged in before 8 p.m. on Sept. 29. Know your party size and your date. Disney has not said how far out bookings will run, so have a couple of dates ready rather than one.
If you miss the drop, keep checking. Dining inventory at Walt Disney World turns over constantly as people cancel and re-plan, and a limited-time venue tends to shake loose tables in the days right before each service.
What else is opening at Magic Kingdom this fall
The Diamond Horseshoe is not the only thing changing in the park.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closes Nov. 2 for its first refurbishment since opening in 2024, with a December return expected. Disney has not said what work is being done.
Over at Disney’s BoardWalk, Hurly-Burly opens Oct. 1 running 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., with the marquee already installed and the menu out.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, meanwhile, is completely sold out for the rest of 2026, so October evenings at Magic Kingdom are going to be busy on party nights and closed to day guests at 6 p.m.
Plan the Diamond Horseshoe around that if you are going in October.
