Disney+ and Hulu are doubling their video podcast lineup in the coming months, Disney said Sept. 22, 2026. New additions include Best Friends, an American Horror Story podcast and Zach Braff and Donald Faison’s Scrubs rewatch show.
Disney+ and Hulu want to be where you watch podcasts, too.
Disney said Tuesday, Sept. 22, that its video podcast lineup on Disney+ and Hulu will double in the coming months. The new shows go beyond the companion podcasts it started with. Now it’s adding comedy, true crime, rewatch shows, news and sports.
Two shows already dropped. More are on the way through November.
What new podcasts are on Disney+ and Hulu?
Here’s the lineup, per Disney.
Best Friends (out now): Comedians Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata hang out every week.
Perfect Person (out now): Miles Bonsignore gives advice to callers.
American Horror Story Official Podcast (Thursday, Sept. 24): FX’s companion show for the horror series, on Hulu.
Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald (Oct. 1): The Scrubs rewatch podcast, on Hulu.
Disney+ Hulu Throwbacks Podcast (Oct. 1): A Halloweentown episode, right on time for October.
Desperately Devoted (Nov. 2): Coming to Hulu.
Best Friends and Perfect Person both come from Headgum, a podcast network known for comedy shows.
ABC News also recently added The Scream Murder: A True Teen Horror Story Podcast, a six-part true crime series hosted by Pat Rogers and Conor McCarthy.
What is Fake Doctors, Real Friends?
It’s a rewatch podcast from Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who played J.D. and Turk on Scrubs. They go back through the show episode by episode, with plenty of behind-the-scenes stories and a lot of joking around.
The show started as an audio podcast from iHeartPodcasts. Now fans can watch the two of them record it, on Hulu, starting Oct. 1.
Why is Disney+ adding podcasts?
Because people are watching them, and Disney has the numbers to show it.
Disney started pairing shows with official video podcasts about a year ago. Only Murders in the Building, Dancing with the Stars and Percy Jackson and the Olympians were among the first to get them, per The Main Street Mouse.
According to Disney, those companion shows keep people watching the series itself. For Tell Me Lies, Disney said “90% of viewers who streamed the companion podcast also watched every episode of Season 3.”
The Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Official Podcast is the biggest one so far. Disney called it “the #1 podcast launch to date across Disney+ and Hulu, based on global views in its first week.”
Other top performers include companion podcasts for Paradise, Percy Jackson and FX’s Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
Do you have to pay extra for Disney+ podcasts?
No. They come with your subscription.
That timing matters this week. Disney raised prices on most Disney+ and Hulu plans Wednesday, Sept. 23, with ad-free Disney+ Premium going to $21.49 a month. More podcasts won’t make that bill smaller, but at least there’s more stuff included.
Where do video podcasts fit on streaming?
Everywhere, lately. Video podcasts have taken off in the last few years, and YouTube, Netflix and Spotify have all pushed into them. Disney’s version plays to its strength: fans of a show can watch the cast break it down right after an episode, in the same app.
The Halloweentown throwback episode is the one to watch for Disney fans. The 1998 Disney Channel Original Movie still gets a big rewatch every October, and now it gets a podcast to go with it.
