Disney has put a scam warning on its careers site, and the timing lines up with a surge in people looking for work there.
Searches for “disney careers” rose 120 percent worldwide this week.
The company’s notice is direct: people are falsely claiming to recruit for The Walt Disney Company and asking applicants for personal information or money.
What Disney says about recruitment scams
The warning appears on Disney’s Parks and Resorts jobs portal.
“We have been made aware of recent internet scams involving individuals falsely stating that they are recruiting for positions within The Walt Disney Company asking for personal information and/or money as part of our interview process,” the notice reads.
Disney lists the only domains its recruiters use: @disney.com, @espn.com, @lucasfilm.com, @ilm.com, @pixar.com and @abc.com.
“They will not request funds or payment in any form or personal information such as photos of government-issued identification,” the company adds.
How to spot a fake Disney job offer
The tells follow the pattern of most employment scams, and Disney’s notice names two of the biggest.
Money changes hands. No legitimate employer asks candidates to pay for training, equipment, background checks or placement. If a payment request appears anywhere in the process, it is not Disney.
Government ID photos. Disney says its recruiters do not request images of government-issued identification during interviews. Employment eligibility documents are handled after hiring, through official channels.
Check the sender’s domain against the six listed above. An address ending in anything else, including near-misses on those spellings, is not a Disney recruiter.
Applications go through Disney’s official careers sites. An offer that arrives without an application is a red flag on its own.
Where to apply for Disney jobs
The company runs separate portals depending on the division.
disneycareers.com covers corporate, studios, media and technology roles, including Disney Internships for students and recent graduates.
parksjobs.disneycareers.com handles theme parks and resorts, which is where most hourly hiring lives.
Disney Cruise Line posts shipboard roles separately, spanning food operations through entertainment.
What Disney is hiring for right now
The parks portal gives a snapshot of where the openings sit.
Walt Disney World casting hourly listings recently showed roughly 28 openings, with Disneyland Resort at about 26.
The largest categories were building, construction and facilities at 26 and theme park operations at 20. Hotel and resorts followed at 13, with smaller counts in culinary, food and beverage, stage productions, costuming, administration and sales.
Postings also run at Disneyland Paris in Chessy and Marne-la-Vallée, and at Hong Kong Disneyland on Lantau Island.
Disney additionally recruits for its Cultural Representative Program, which places participants at resorts and World Showcase pavilions to represent their heritage.
A caution about Disney salary figures online
The wage numbers circulating in search results deserve scrutiny.
Third-party aggregators publish Disney cast member pay estimates that do not agree with each other or, in some cases, with themselves. One site currently lists an average hourly rate above the top of its own stated range.
The same platform has produced inaccurate answers about Disneyland’s park hopping rules and about cast member radio codes in recent weeks.
Actual pay is listed on individual job postings. That is the figure to work from.
Why Disney job interest is spiking
Several things have put the company in front of job seekers at once.
Disney has been in heavy news rotation over its CEO transition, a round of roughly 1,000 layoffs reported in the spring, and a change to spousal healthcare coverage affecting more than 200,000 employees starting in 2027.
The parks side is also building. Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge opens July 1, 2027 with 967 rooms, and construction continues on Villains Land, Piston Peak, Monstropolis and Tropical Americas.
Large openings generate large hiring waves, and scammers follow hiring waves.
Anyone contacted about a Disney role should verify the domain before replying to anything.
