Disney reveals new Disney Believe cruise ship details at D23 2026
Disney revealed the Disney Believe’s Grand Hall and exterior artwork at D23. The Moana-themed atrium gets a bronze statue, Tinker Bell decorates the bow, and Woody and Buzz scrawl the ship’s name on the stern in crayon, ditching Disney Cruise Line’s signature script.
Every Disney Cruise Line ship wears its name on the stern in the same looping Disney script. The Disney Believe won’t.
At the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress showcase at D23 on August 15, Disney Cruise Line portfolio executive creative director Claire Weiss revealed exterior artwork and a first look at the Grand Hall for the line’s ninth ship, sailing late 2027.
The stern is the fun one. New renderings show larger-than-life sculptures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear hanging off the back of the ship, writing its name with oversized yellow crayons in the blocky Toy Story lettering rather than the fleet’s usual calligraphy.
That’s a small break from an established convention, and it’s the kind of detail that only lands if you’ve noticed the pattern across eight other ships.
The Grand Hall goes to Moana
Like the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny before it, the Believe’s Grand Hall serves as the central gathering space, themed to a single Disney story.
The Believe’s is Moana.
A bronze cast statue of Moana anchors the room, with Pua and Heihei alongside her, looking out toward the horizon. Renderings hint at South Pacific influences layered with what Disney describes as artisanal Polynesian finishes drawn from the region’s cultural traditions.
Tinker Bell takes the bow
The bow gets a quieter treatment.
Disney is decorating it with a hand-painted filigree of Tinker Bell as she appeared in the 1953 animated Peter Pan, not any later version. Silhouettes of Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook, and other characters from the film fly through the swirling design around her.
Bow and stern together give the ship two very different registers, a delicate period illustration up front and two cartoon toys with crayons out back.
Which stories the Believe is built around
Disney previously confirmed the ship draws on a specific set of Disney Animation films, and the D23 reveal fits the list.
The Believe’s venues and entertainment will pull from Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid.
“This ship celebrates belief in magic, family, the power of nature, and belief in yourself,” Weiss told the audience, adding that everything onboard ties back to believing in something fantastical.
Whether that translates to a themed dining room per film, the way the Treasure and Destiny handle their stories, is still unannounced.
The full reveal is still coming
Saturday was a tease, not the main event.
Disney Cruise Line has a dedicated Disney Believe reveal scheduled for October 7, 2026, where the onboard experiences, dining, and entertainment get their proper unveiling. Booking dates haven’t been announced, though they typically follow a reveal like that closely.
The ship is under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and will be the fourth vessel in the Wish class.
So the Believe currently exists as a hull in Germany, a bronze Moana, and two toys with crayons. October fills in the rest.
