The Muppet Show won Outstanding Variety Special, Pre-Recorded at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, beating a Dave Chappelle special on Netflix, Nikki Glaser on Hulu, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show on Disney+, and NBC’s Wicked: One Wonderful Night.
Two of the five nominees in that category were Disney’s. Disney won it either way.
How many Emmy nominations did Disney get?

That number covers ABC, FX, Hulu Originals, Disney+, National Geographic, Onyx Collective, Disney Kids & Family, 20th Television, 20th Television Animation, plus Lucasfilm, Marvel Television, 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures.
ABC pulled 46 of them, the most of any broadcast network. 109 were for programming streaming on Disney+ or Hulu.

What else did Disney win?
Rob Reiner took Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for FX‘s The Bear, posthumously. Wendi McLendon-Covey accepted on his behalf at the Creative Arts ceremony earlier this month.
Jamie Lee Curtis noted during the telecast that Reiner’s win set a record for the longest gap between acting Emmys at 48 years.
Disney picked up additional wins across the Creative Arts Emmys over Labor Day weekend, which handle the craft and technical categories and hand out the bulk of the trophies each year.
What did Disney lose?
Most of the marquee categories, and to the same two places.
Abbott Elementary (ABC), The Bear (FX) and Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) all lost Outstanding Comedy Series to Apple TV‘s Widow’s Bay, which set an all-time record with 14 wins for a single comedy season.
Paradise (Hulu) lost Outstanding Drama Series to HBO Max‘s The Pitt, which repeated from last year. Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette (FX) lost the limited series race.
Dancing with the Stars (ABC) lost Outstanding Reality Competition to Peacock‘s The Traitors. Jimmy Kimmel Live! lost Variety Series.
And Star Wars: Visions (Disney+) lost Outstanding Animated Program to South Park.
Who else made history Monday night?
Matthew Rhys became the first actor to win two lead acting Emmys in the same night, taking comedy for Widow’s Bay and limited series for The Beast in Me.
Rhys will also be familiar to a certain kind of reader for another reason. He is voicing Han Solo in Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd, the Welsh-language version of A New Hope that Lucasfilm and Disney made with S4C, airing Christmas Day.
Jean Smart collected her eighth career Emmy for Hacks, her fifth for that role. Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.
Mariska Hargitay hosted on NBC from the Peacock Theater.
A hundred and twenty-five nominations, and the trophy that will get framed is the one the frogs and pigs won.
