Walt Disney Imagineering filed a construction permit for 1610 Magic Kingdom Drive, an address that doesn’t exist yet, right next to Haunted Mansion. The Piston Peak model from D23 suggests what goes there, and it isn’t a bar.
Disney World just filed paperwork for a building at an address that isn’t on any map.
A permit filed this week lists 1610 Magic Kingdom Drive for general construction, with PCL Construction as the contractor and a one-year window. The highest address that currently exists in that stretch is 1600, which is the one Disney uses for Haunted Mansion.
So something new is going up next door to the Mansion. The D23 model already showed what, and it’s less exciting than the rumors.
What is being built at 1610 Magic Kingdom Drive?
The permit doesn’t say. “General construction” is as specific as Disney permits get.
But the Piston Peak National Park model that Disney showed at the D23 Expo in August has buildings in that exact spot. WDW News Today reported at the time that the area behind Haunted Mansion shows “a few buildings” with no theming, and one is clearly labeled as a restroom. Another structure next to it has no label at all.
Disney Fanatic put the restroom building at about 5,800 square feet and noted a wooded path that looks like an overflow queue for the Mansion.
That’s the most likely answer. A new address for a new building, in the place Disney already said a new building goes.
Is Disney World building a Haunted Mansion bar?
Not according to the model.
For months, fans have floated two ideas for the space behind the Mansion. One was a themed lounge, the kind Disney Cruise Line puts on its ships. The other was a direct path from the Mansion into the planned Villains Land.
The D23 model shows neither. A restroom sits between the Mansion and the future villains area, and the path behind the house reads as queue space, not a new entrance to anything.
The unlabeled building is the one loose thread. It could be backstage support, or it could be something Disney isn’t ready to show.
The model doesn’t say. Neither does the permit.
How many Haunted Mansion permits has Disney filed this year?
At least three, and they’re not the same kind of work.
January 2026: permits tied to the Mansion’s exterior refurbishment, which wrapped by early August with darker brick, lighter trim, a green cupola and a rearranged graveyard.
Aug. 29: a general construction permit at 1600 Magic Kingdom Drive, the Mansion’s own address, with MLC Theming as contractor and an Aug. 28, 2027, expiration. That one came through Disney’s facilities side, not Imagineering.
This week: the new 1610 address, through Walt Disney Imagineering, with PCL Construction.
The switch from facilities to Imagineering, and from the Mansion’s address to a brand-new one, points to new construction and not upkeep.
What is Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom?
It’s the Cars-themed land replacing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island on the park’s west side. Disney showed the full model at D23, including a few nods to the old river and island.
Construction is well underway. A new crane went up over the site last weekend for vertical work, per Disney Tourist Blog.
The land wraps right around the back of Haunted Mansion, which is why every permit filed near the Mansion this year gets read as a Piston Peak clue. This one probably is. It just happens to be a clue about bathrooms.
Big lands need them. Nobody puts a restroom on a D23 stage, but somebody still has to file the paperwork.
