Disney World's Fantasmic! moves to 8:30 p.m. on August 23
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is shifting its nighttime show 30 minutes earlier, with the second performance moving from 10:30 to 10 p.m. The amphitheater opens 90 minutes before showtime.
Fantasmic! starts half an hour earlier beginning August 23, and that half hour costs more than it sounds like.
Through August 22, the show runs at 9 p.m. nightly with a second 10:30 p.m. performance on Fridays and select Saturdays.
From the 23rd, the first show moves to 8:30 p.m. daily. Second performances move to 10 p.m. and shift to Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. On September 18, that 10 p.m. show moves again, to 9:30 p.m.
Why a 30-minute Fantasmic change eats an hour
Nobody walks up to the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater at showtime and sits down.
Disney opens the venue as early as 90 minutes before the performance and recommends arriving early for a seat. Guests who want a comfortable spot typically aim for 30 to 60 minutes ahead.
Run the arithmetic on a 30-minute cushion. Right now that means heading over around 8:30 p.m. From August 23 it means 8 p.m.
So the show moves 30 minutes, and the last usable stretch of your evening moves 30 minutes with it. That’s one more attraction, or dinner pushed earlier, or a Lightning Lane return window you now can’t make.
This is the third Fantasmic! time change of 2026
Fantasmic! ran at 8:30 p.m. earlier this year, then moved back to 9 p.m. as sunset ran later. August reverses that. September 18 adjusts it again.
These are seasonal calendar changes tracking daylight, not a permanent operating standard. The show will very likely keep moving as fall goes on.
Anyone holding a Fantasmic! Dining Package should check which performance is printed on the voucher. When Disney schedules two shows, package guests are assigned to one, and a later show existing does not mean you can switch into it.
Happily Ever After is moving too
Over at Magic Kingdom, Happily Ever After shifts from 10 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting August 31, currently scheduled that way through at least September 19.
That change is due to the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party running select nights from August 7 through October 31, including September 1, the day right after the new time starts. On party nights, the fireworks are not part of regular admission, and the Halloween lineup runs instead.
Check the party calendar and the fireworks schedule together before locking an evening, since one of them cancels the other.
The productions themselves are unchanged. What changed is the start time. Now the show starts at Hollywood Studios while it’s still light out.
