Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom shuts down Monday, Nov. 2, for its first refurbishment, and Disney World’s calendar shows it back Dec. 18. Here’s what to know if you’re visiting.
If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on your Disney World list this month, you’re out of luck. The Magic Kingdom flume ride closes Monday, Nov. 2, for a refurbishment that runs into December.
Disney has called it a “routine refurbishment” with a return expected in December 2026, according to KennythePirate and Disney Food Blog. Disney World’s operating calendar now lists the ride back on Friday, Dec. 18, Disney Tourist Blog reported.
Sunday, Nov. 1, was the last day to ride before the break, and it didn’t go perfectly.
Did Tiana’s Bayou Adventure open on its last day before refurbishment?
Eventually. The ride was listed as temporarily closed in the My Disney Experience app on Sunday morning, according to Disney Fanatic, which said it opened at about 10:25 a.m.
Some fan sites framed that as a “breakdown” on the ride’s “final day.” What actually happened is smaller. The ride had a late start on its last morning before a planned refurbishment of about six weeks, and no trusted outlet had reported anything bigger by early afternoon.
Late openings happen at every theme park. If you were in line at rope drop, it stung. If you weren’t, it’s a footnote.
When does Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopen at Magic Kingdom?
Disney World’s calendar shows Friday, Dec. 18, 2026, Disney Tourist Blog and KennythePirate reported. Disney didn’t announce that date. It showed up when the calendar moved forward, and Disney Tourist Blog warned it “may not be firm.”
KennythePirate also noted the ride is set to close early that night for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
So if your trip is in late December, keep an eye on the app. Dates like this can move in either direction.
Why is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closing?
Disney hasn’t given more detail than “routine.” This is the ride’s first refurbishment since it opened at Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024.
Disney Tourist Blog has argued a refurb was overdue because of broken Audio-Animatronics, but that’s the blog’s opinion, not something Disney has said. Any talk of a longer closure next year is speculation for now.
The ride has had rough patches before. Disney Tourist Blog reported it had problems from its preview days on and closed early on some dates in winter 2025 for overnight maintenance. After that, the blog said, its uptime settled to roughly where Splash Mountain’s used to be.
What else is closed at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?
The shops close with it. Tiana’s General Store and the Critter Co-Op shut down Nov. 2 too, according to KennythePirate.
What replaced Splash Mountain at Disney World?
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure did. Splash Mountain closed at Magic Kingdom on Jan. 23, 2023, and the ride was rethemed around The Princess and the Frog.
The new version keeps the log flume and the big final drop, but swaps the old story for Tiana throwing a Mardi Gras party in the bayou. Disneyland’s version opened Nov. 15, 2024, and no closure has been reported there.
What other Magic Kingdom rides are closed right now?
A couple of big ones. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress has been closed since July for a major overhaul and isn’t expected back until spring 2027, according to MagicGuides.
The Walt Disney World Railroad reopened Oct. 29, a day ahead of schedule, after a monthlong closure. PNP covered that one on Oct. 29.
And the Jungle Cruise trades places with the Jingle Cruise starting Nov. 3 for the holidays.
Is Magic Kingdom still worth it without Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?
Sure. You’ll miss the log flume, but late fall is a strong time for the park, with holiday decorations, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights and the Jingle Cruise all on the way.
If Tiana is a must for your crew, plan for after Dec. 18 and check the app before you go. And whenever you go, pack a poncho. This is Florida.
