The Main Street, U.S.A. streetcars pulled by Percheron draft horses made their last runs Oct. 1, 2026. They’d been part of Disneyland Paris since opening day in 1992. Disney hasn’t said what’s next.
The horses on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Paris have clocked out for good.
The park’s Horse-Drawn Streetcars stopped running Oct. 1, 2026, per WDW News Today. The streetcars had been part of Disneyland Paris since it opened on April 12, 1992, which makes this the end of a 34-year run.
WDW News Today first reported in early July that the horses would retire before the end of the year. Now the last day has come and gone.
What were the horse-drawn streetcars at Disneyland Paris?
Exactly what they sound like.
Big draft horses pulled open-air streetcars along Main Street, U.S.A., from Town Square toward Central Plaza, the hub in front of the castle. It was a slow, clip-clop way to get down the street.
The horses were Percherons, a French draft breed known for being calm and strong. That’s a nice bit of local casting for a park outside Paris.
Disneyland Paris ran the streetcars as their own attraction, separate from the other Main Street Vehicles like the fire engine and the omnibus, per the park’s Wikipedia history.
Why is Disneyland Paris retiring the horses?
Disney hasn’t given a public reason.
WDW News Today first reported the plan on July 2, 2026. Neither that report nor the follow-up included an official Disney statement explaining the decision.
The park had three Percherons left on the streetcar team, per WDW News Today. They lived backstage at the Pony Farm, a small barn area tucked behind Frontierland that also houses goats.
This also isn’t the first time Disneyland Paris has stepped back from horses. Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, the long-running dinner show at Disney Village with horses, cattle and trick riding, ended in 2020.
What happens to the Pony Farm at Disneyland Paris?
Nothing’s been announced.
WDW News Today pointed out that with the horses gone, the backstage area in Frontierland could eventually be cleared for future park expansion. That’s speculation, not a Disney plan. Still, land inside the park is valuable, and Disneyland Paris has big growth plans.
Disney also hasn’t said where the three horses are going to live in retirement.
Do Disneyland and Magic Kingdom still have horse-drawn streetcars?
Yes, for now.
Horse-drawn streetcars still run on Main Street, U.S.A. at both Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida. At the U.S. parks, the horse-drawn streetcar runs alongside the other Main Street vehicles rather than as a separate attraction, per Wikipedia.
There’s no announcement or report that Disneyland or Magic Kingdom plans to retire its horses.
The American horses have their own homes. At Disney World, the Main Street horses live at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Fort Wilderness, where guests can stop by to see them. At Disneyland, they’re kept backstage at the Circle D Corral.
What else is changing at Disneyland Paris?
A lot. The resort is in the middle of its biggest makeover in years.
Disney Adventure World, the renamed Walt Disney Studios Park, opened its new World of Frozen area on March 29, 2026, and more expansion is planned for both parks. Main Street’s quieter, older attractions are the kind of thing that can get squeezed when a park is chasing big new rides.
For now, the old Main Street streetcar tracks will stay. Disney hasn’t said whether anything will run on them.
If you rode the horse-drawn streetcar in Paris, consider yourself part of a club that just closed its membership.
