Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will show the holiday cartoons On Ice, Pluto’s Christmas Tree and Goofy’s The Art of Skiing this season, next to props from Disney holiday films.
Walt Disney Presents is trading its biography for cartoons this Christmas. Very old cartoons.
The museum-style attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a holiday makeover, Disney announced Tuesday, Oct. 6, in its Disney Parks Blog guide to the 2026 season. The theater inside will show holiday-themed shorts, including On Ice, Pluto’s Christmas Tree and The Art of Skiing starring Goofy.
“Walt Disney Presents is shining for the season with a holiday installation celebrating favorite Disney stories,” Disney’s post said.
What’s playing at Walt Disney Presents for the holidays?
Three classic Disney cartoons, at least. Disney named these:
On Ice (1935): a Mickey Mouse short, the 79th in the series
The Art of Skiing (1941): Goofy on the slopes, the start of his “How to” cartoons
Pluto’s Christmas Tree (1952): Mickey and Pluto bring home a tree with Chip ‘n’ Dale still living in it
The theater usually plays Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream, a short film about Walt’s life. During the holidays, the shorts take over, WDW News Today reported.
Which holiday props will Walt Disney Presents display?
Disney hasn’t said yet. Its post promises “festive displays featuring props and artifacts from beloved holiday films,” and that’s all for now.
Last year’s holiday display included pieces from The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause and Babes in Toyland, among others, WDW News Today noted. Nobody’s confirmed what returns.
Why is The Art of Skiing a big deal?
It’s where the Goofy holler came from. That “yaaa-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooey” scream Goofy lets out when he falls off something was first used in The Art of Skiing, which came out Nov. 14, 1941.
The yell wasn’t even a voice actor. It was a yodel by skier Hannes Schroll, recorded at his ski house, and it’s the only sound Goofy makes in the whole cartoon.
The short also kicked off Goofy’s “How to” series, which ran from How to Play Baseball in 1942 all the way to How to Hook Up Your Home Theater in 2007.
What happens in Pluto’s Christmas Tree?
Mickey and Pluto cut down a tree, take it home and find out the hard way that Chip ‘n’ Dale came with it. The chipmunks wreck the decorating, and things get loud before everybody calms down for some carols.
It came out Nov. 21, 1952, and was directed by Jack Hannah, who mostly made Donald Duck cartoons. Donald, Goofy and Minnie show up at the end as carolers.
Disneyland fans might know the look already. The tree and fireplace from the short are on display in the queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway there.
When are the Walt Disney Presents holiday shorts playing?
During Disney World’s holiday season, which runs Nov. 13 to Jan. 6, 2027, according to WDW News Today. Disney calls the theater lineup a “limited-time experience.”
Walt Disney Presents sits in Animation Courtyard, and it’s included with park admission. Disney says it originally opened to mark the 100th anniversary of Walt’s birth, which was in 2001.
What else is new for the holidays at Hollywood Studios?
A lot of music. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster gets the Muppets’ Obligatory Holiday Overlay and Alien Swirling Saucers gets a holiday playlist, both from Nov. 4. The Hollywood Tower Hotel gets projections at night for Sunset Seasons Greetings, too.
So the rides get new songs, and a trio of old cartoons gets the big screen. On Ice turns 91 this year, and it still got a holiday booking.
