Disney’s new Batuu Adventure Buddies launches with interactive Ewok at Droid Depot
An interactive Ewok is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and I need it!
Disney is launching Batuu Adventure Buddies at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on August 13. The first buddy will be an interactive Ewok and you can dress him up with themed gear packs from Endor, Mandalore, and Batuu, and I need him!
Droid Depot is getting a fuzzy Ewok and I am here for it!
Disney announced a new line of interactive toys called Batuu Adventure Buddies, launching at the Droid Depot shop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The first one is an interactive Ewok, and it arrives at Disneyland park on August 13, 2026.
It’s the first of three Batuu Adventure Buddies planned for the line. The other two mystery buddies, along with the Ewok and gear packs, will come to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida later on.
I hope they eventually arrive on the Disney Store too!
What does the Ewok do?
The Ewok has expressive LCD eyes, motorized facial expressions, and a range of sounds, giggles, and laughs. Disney says the toys were “crafted by a scrappy crew of Anzellan manufacturers.”
It responds to touch. One tap on the head or two taps on the belly triggers random reactions. Three quick head taps unlock two special modes:
Endor Dance Party: rhythmic eye animations with Ewokese chanting and drumming, and nearby Ewoks may join in
Forest Call Chain: a double belly-tap near other toys sets off a scout call that other nearby toys answer in their own languages
And yes, the buddies talk to each other. They also talk to the droids you can buy at Droid Depot. If you put them together, they interact with each other.
The three Batuu Adventure Buddies gear packs
Here’s the part you’ll be spending extra on. The Ewok can be dressed in themed gear. These are sold separately.
There are three packs:
Endor Gear Set: a Spear, a Horn, a Grilled Fish, and an Endor Issue Poncho
Mandalore Gear Set: a Mythosaur Axe, Nummies, Beskar Chest Armor, and a Shoulder Cape
Batuu Gear Set: a YT-1300 Freighter Model, an All-Kit Tool, a Ronto Wrap, and a Bantuuan Poncho
The food, tools, and toys in each set physically connect to the buddy’s left hand and trigger specific animations, sounds, and reactions. Dressing up your Ewok actually changes what it does, not just how it looks.

How you buy and activate a Batuu Adventure Buddy
The purchase is built as a little experience, the same way Droid Depot’s build-your-own droids are.
You start at a dedicated wall bay inside Droid Depot, where a cast member helps you pick your companion and any gear. Then there’s an activation moment that “brings your new friend to life” for the first time before you head out into the land with it.
Kind of like Build-a-Bear but it does a lot more.
Disney hasn’t announced prices for the Ewok or the gear packs, listing them only as available “for an additional fee.” So the cost is the one big unknown here, and given Droid Depot’s build-a-droid runs around $130 before add-ons, nobody should expect these to be cheap.
Droid Depot’s build-your-own droids will still be available
The new buddies share the shop with Droid Depot’s droids, which still stands: building your own droid from scratch.
Inside, you pick from four models, choose parts off a conveyor belt in various colors, and assemble a custom astromech with a cast member’s help before activating it:
BB-Series: dome, dome connection plate, body sphere, and motivator
R-Series: dome, body, center leg, and R side legs
C-Series: dome, body, center wheel, and C side legs
A-LT-Series: dome, body, and A-LT side legs
Like the buddies, the finished droids react to spots around Black Spire Outpost, near Ronto Roasters and the A-Wing and elsewhere.
One planning note worth knowing: reservations are no longer required for Droid Depot at Disneyland, though Disney says to check DisneyWorld.com for available dates at Hollywood Studios.
So Batuu’s toy shop just got a new resident. Whether you’re Team Build-a-Droid or ready to put a tiny Ewok in Beskar armor, the outpost has another way to take a piece of the galaxy home, price tag pending.
