Disney has scheduled a refurbishment of the hotel's guest rooms from July through September 2027, BlogMickey and WDW News Today reported Thursday, Nov. 5. The main Copper Creek Springs Pool follows from January through spring 2028.
Both projects stack on top of the exterior refurbishment that started Aug. 5, 2024, at the Lodge and Copper Creek Villas and Cabins. Disney still lists that work as wrapping up in late 2026, which leaves it less than two months if the date holds.
By our math, that's about three and a half years from the first exterior scaffolding to the pool's spring 2028 return. It's not nonstop work, but it's a lot of calendar.
Disney hasn't said what the room work includes. BlogMickey and WDWNT both expect a "soft goods" refresh, meaning things like bedding, fabrics and decor. That's their read, not Disney's.

Disney hasn't shared an exact reopening date for the pool, DVC Shop noted. "Spring" can mean a lot of things in Florida, so keep an eye on it if you're booking for March or April 2028.
Is Copper Creek part of the 2027 room refurbishment?
No. Only the Lodge's hotel rooms are on the 2027 list. The Copper Creek villas and cabins already had their turn, with a refurbishment that ran from mid-May through September 2025, BlogMickey reported.
Boulder Ridge Villas isn't mentioned in the new schedule, either.
The Lodge's hotel rooms last got a full remodel during the pandemic closure. The redone rooms, with wood-look floors in place of carpet, were ready when the resort reopened to regular guests on June 6, 2021, WDWNT reported at the time. So this round would land about six years later.
Which pool will be open at Wilderness Lodge in 2028?
Boulder Ridge Cove, the resort's second pool, stays open while Copper Creek Springs is closed, BlogMickey and DVC Shop reported.
The catch: Boulder Ridge Cove has no waterslide. Copper Creek Springs is the one with the slide, so any kids on an early 2028 trip may want a word with you.
How will the refurbishment affect my Wilderness Lodge stay?
Through the end of 2026, Disney's notice about the exterior project warns that guests "may experience obstructed views in some areas." Guests may also see or hear construction during daytime hours.
For summer 2027, DVC Shop expects some hotel rooms to be out of service and work to be audible near certain floors. Disney hasn't posted any booking limits for that window. A few practical moves:
Ask for a room away from work areas. It's a request, not a guarantee.
Look at the villas. Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge aren't on the 2027 room list, though they share the property.
Recheck dates before final payment. Disney's refurbishment schedules can shift, and this one already includes a "spring" with no end date.
How old is Disney's Wilderness Lodge?
The Lodge opened May 28, 1994, and has 727 rooms, per WDWMagic. It sits on Bay Lake near Magic Kingdom, with boat service to the park.
Copper Creek Villas and Cabins came along later as the resort's newer Disney Vacation Club section, and Boulder Ridge Villas is the older one.
The exterior work, at least, is scheduled to wrap up within weeks. Scheduled.
