During Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4 to 10, some Domino’s deliveries will arrive with firefighters on a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in your home work, the pizza is free.
Your next pizza could show up on a fire engine.
Domino’s and the National Fire Protection Association are teaming up again for Fire Prevention Week, which runs Oct. 4 to 10, 2026. Some orders from participating stores will arrive with local firefighters along for the ride, per a Domino’s press release from Oct. 2.
The deal is simple. “If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free,” the release says. If they aren’t, the firefighters will replace the batteries or put in working alarms.
This is the 19th year in a row Domino’s and the NFPA have done it.
How does the Domino’s smoke alarm pizza deal work?
It’s partly luck. You can’t ask for the fire engine, per Sporked. Some deliveries just come with firefighters.
When one does:
Firefighters ride along with your delivery on a fire engine.
They check the smoke alarms in your home.
If the alarms work, your pizza is free.
If they don’t, firefighters fix the problem with new batteries or new alarms. You pay for the pizza, per Sporked.
So a working alarm doesn’t guarantee free food. Sporked’s advice is to skip standing at the window waiting for a fire truck. Fair.
Which Domino’s stores are taking part in 2026?
Franchise-owned and corporate stores around the country, per Domino’s. The company hasn’t posted a list.
It runs through local fire departments that partner with nearby stores, so the easiest way to find out is to check your fire department’s social media pages. Firefighters in Sequim, Washington, for one, are delivering pizza this year, per My Clallam County. Last year, crews in Berlin, New Hampshire, took part, per WCAX.
What is the Fire Prevention Week 2026 theme?
“Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” per the release.
The focus is lithium-ion batteries, per Sporked. They’re in phones, laptops, e-bikes, scooters, power tools and a lot of kids’ toys.
They’re handy. They can also overheat and catch fire when they’re damaged or charged the wrong way.
The NFPA’s general advice on lithium-ion batteries:
Use the charger that came with the device, or one the maker approves.
Don’t charge devices on a bed or couch.
Unplug once the battery is full.
Stop using a battery that’s hot, swollen, leaking or smells strange.
Recycle old batteries at a drop-off spot instead of tossing them in the trash.
How often should you test your smoke alarms?
Once a month, per the NFPA’s standard guidance. Push the test button and listen for the beep.
The NFPA also says to put alarms inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement. Replace each alarm every 10 years, even if it still beeps.
“Fire continues to present real risks to the public, particularly at home,” said Lorraine Carli, the NFPA’s vice president of outreach and advocacy, in the release.
When did the Domino’s free pizza for smoke alarms program start?
Nineteen straight years puts the start back in 2008.
“Fire safety is an important message,” said Maureen Pittenger, Domino’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer. She added that Domino’s stores have “found a unique way to help bring it home.”
That’s a lot of pizza and a lot of smoke alarm checks.
Why is Fire Prevention Week in October?
It marks the Great Chicago Fire, which started on Oct. 8, 1871, and burned for about two days. The fire killed hundreds of people and destroyed thousands of buildings.
The NFPA has sponsored Fire Prevention Week since 1922. It always falls during the week that includes Oct. 9.
And if no fire engine shows up with your order this year? Test your smoke alarms anyway. It takes about 10 seconds, and the pizza tastes the same either way.
