AMC, Regal and Cinemark revealed “Dune: Part Three” popcorn buckets on Oct. 29. AMC’s sandworm returns with two mouths, and many collectibles go on sale Dec. 17, the night before the film opens.
The sandworm is back, and this time it brought a friend. AMC Theatres revealed its “Dune: Part Three” popcorn buckets on Thursday, Oct. 29, including a Double Sandworm bucket with two mouths, according to TheWrap.
Regal and Cinemark also showed off their own collectibles the same day. Movie theater snack wars are officially back on Arrakis.
What do the AMC Dune: Part Three popcorn buckets look like?
AMC’s lineup has two headliners, according to TheWrap.
Double Sandworm: Two sandworm mouths to grab popcorn from, built for sharing.
Sandworm Thumper: A single-opening design topped by a sandworm and a thumper, aimed at solo moviegoers.
TheWrap described the pair as collectible snack tins. Attractions Magazine and Fantasy Land News described the thumper piece as a drink cup. Either way, there’s a thumper on it.
Attractions Magazine also reported a tall sculpted cup with a metallic look. AMC’s reveal video added a pun: “It’s really thumping.”
Hank Green, who runs food and beverage at AMC, nodded to the past. “The AMC Sandworm popcorn bucket for ‘Dune: Part Two’ became a viral phenomenon,” he said, according to TheWrap.
What popcorn buckets are Regal and Cinemark selling?
Regal skipped the worm. Its exclusive is a Spacing Guild Navigator popcorn bucket, arriving “this December, exclusively at Regal,” per the chain’s post quoted by TheWrap.
Attractions Magazine described it as a tall, bronze vessel with curved ridges and a red oval near the top. A side compartment opens to hold the popcorn. Fantasy Land News reported it comes with a large popcorn.
Regal’s lineup also includes a Sandworm Plush, a Dune throw blanket and a Sands of Arrakis Cup, according to Fantasy Land News.
Cinemark went with a Copper Sandworm popcorn bucket. The chain posted that it is “COMING SOON to theaters!” Fantasy Land News reported it will be sold at select locations while supplies last, with free same-day refills.
When do the Dune: Part Three popcorn buckets go on sale?
AMC’s exclusive collectibles arrive Thursday, Dec. 17, according to Attractions Magazine and SFFGazette. Cineplex in Canada also listed Dec. 17 for its merch, at select theaters while supplies last.
Some chains, including Harkins, start sales one hour before the first showtime that day, Fantasy Land News reported.
Regal has only said December. Cinemark has only said “coming soon.”
How much do the Dune popcorn buckets cost?
No chain has announced prices yet, according to TheWrap, Attractions Magazine and Fantasy Land News.
For comparison, AMC sold the 2024 “Dune: Part Two” sandworm bucket for $24.99 plus tax, according to a March 2024 report syndicated on Yahoo. Fantasy Land News noted AMC cups come only with fountain drinks, and gourmet popcorn costs extra.
Why did the Dune: Part Two sandworm bucket go viral?
In 2024, moviegoers took one look at AMC’s sandworm bucket and decided it looked like something else entirely. Variety called the design “suggestive, to say the least.”
The memes came fast. “Saturday Night Live” parodied it in a sketch starring Ayo Edebiri and Marcello Hernandez, according to TheWrap.
Resale listings for the bucket climbed as high as $846.36 on eBay, about 34 times the original price, according to the Yahoo report. Director Denis Villeneuve later told The New York Times, “I’m at peace with the bucket,” according to SFFGazette.
The bucket also helped kick off a wave of wild novelty designs, including a “Deadpool & Wolverine” bucket, TheWrap noted.
When does Dune: Part Three come out?
“Dune: Part Three” opens in theaters and IMAX on Friday, Dec. 18, 2026, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
Denis Villeneuve directs. Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya return. The film is based on Frank Herbert’s “Dune Messiah.” The cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh and Jason Momoa, according to Radio X.
The story is set years after “Part Two.” Villeneuve has called it “a thriller.”
