Dunkin’ cups might be getting wings this Halloween.
Deal sites, including The Freebie Guy, report that on Friday, Oct. 16, Dunkin’ will give out a free purple bat koozie with the purchase of a Berry Battie Daydream Refresher. The koozie has purple bat wings, so your iced coffee looks like it’s about to fly off.
It’s supposed to be at select locations, while supplies last.
Is the Dunkin’ bat koozie confirmed?
Not by Dunkin’. The company hasn’t announced the koozie or the Berry Battie Daydream Refresher.
The Freebie Guy posted the freebie Oct. 5, and local outlets picked it up from there.
Dunkin’ has been hinting that more is coming. Its official Halloween announcement on Sept. 30 said there would be “more surprises, treats and Halloween moments throughout October,” according to Anthony Epter, Dunkin’s vice president of menu innovation.
What is the Berry Battie Daydream Refresher?
It’s a purple drink with eyes, if the leaks are right.
Food creator Markie Devo first posted the drink in September, citing a Dunkin’ employee, according to Sporked. The leaked recipe is a Berry Clementine Refresher with blueberry flavor and oatmilk, topped with Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam and candy eyes.
The leak says it arrives Oct. 14, two days before the koozie giveaway. Markie Devo called that date speculation that could shift.
Isn’t that the Dark Spell Daydream Refresher?
Pretty close. Dunkin’ already sells the Dark Spell Daydream Refresher, which launched Sept. 30. It’s berry clementine and blueberry flavors with oatmilk and Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam.
That’s the same recipe as the leaked Berry Battie, minus the candy eyes.
And Dunkin’ isn’t done with the purple foam. The Wakandan Daydream Refresher on the Avengers: Doomsday menu, starting Nov. 4, is a Berry Clementine Refresher with raspberry, oatmilk and Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam.
So that’s three purple Daydream Refreshers in about five weeks, give or take some eyeballs.
What else is coming to Dunkin’ on Oct. 14?
The same leak lists a Halloween wave for Oct. 14. It includes the return of the Spider Donut, a frosted donut with a chocolate Munchkin in the middle, chocolate drizzle legs, and icing eyes.
There’s also a Halloween Munchkins bucket that holds 50 donut holes. No price has leaked.
Dunkin’ hasn’t confirmed either one. But its Sept. 30 announcement told fans to watch Instagram, where “a familiar eight-legged friend may return.” That sure sounds like a spider.
Are there other Dunkin’ deals on Oct. 16?
Yes, and this one is official. Dunkin’ Rewards members earn 3X points on any food purchase on Oct. 16 when they order ahead in the app, scan their Rewards ID or pay with an enrolled Dunkin’ card.
So if the koozie shows up at your store, a donut on the side earns extra points too.
The $6 Meal Deal is still around as well. It gets you a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, Hash Browns and a medium hot or iced coffee for $6 at participating stores.
Other official Rewards deals run all month. Members earn 4X bonus points on drinks ordered ahead on Mondays through Oct. 26, and 3X points on half dozens, dozens, and 25- or 50-count Munchkins on Oct. 30 and 31.
Has Dunkin’ done merch giveaways like this before?
