Your iced coffee is getting a sweater before you’ve even dug yours out of the closet.
Dunkin’ is handing out a free Dunkin’ x L.L.Bean Birdseye Sweater Cup Sleeve on Tuesday, Sept. 22, the first day of fall. Buy any hot or iced coffee at a participating Dunkin’ and the sleeve is yours. It’s limited edition, though, and the deal only runs while supplies last. So if you want one, the morning run is probably your best shot.
The design takes L.L.Bean’s classic bird’s-eye knit, the cozy dotted pattern on the brand’s famous sweaters, and redoes it in Dunkin’ pink and orange. Basically, it’s the sweater your grandpa wore leaf peeping, shrunk down to hug a medium coffee. We kinda love it.
How do you get the free Dunkin’ sweater cup sleeve?
Here’s the deal, per the companies’ announcement:
When: Tuesday, Sept. 22
What you buy: Any hot or iced coffee
Where: Participating Dunkin’ locations nationwide
The catch: While supplies last
The announcement doesn’t say you need the Dunkin’ app or a Rewards account for the sleeve. The word “participating” matters, though. Not every shop is guaranteed to have them, and the ones that do won’t have them forever. If you’ve got a favorite location, it can’t hurt to ask the crew.
Fun bonus fact: fall officially starts at 8:05 p.m. ET Tuesday, when the autumnal equinox hits. So technically you’re grabbing a fall sleeve on the last few hours of summer.
Why are Dunkin’ and L.L.Bean teaming up?
This is the first time the two New England brands have worked together. L.L.Bean started in Freeport, Maine, in 1912. Dunkin’ opened its first shop in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1950. Between them, that’s nearly two centuries of boots and coffee.
Dunkin’ Chief Marketing Officer Jill Nelson said the two brands “have been part of many of the same routines and traditions for decades.” L.L.Bean CMO Nick Wilkoff said, “We wanted to create something that feels familiar and fun.”
And no, nobody wrote a big check. An L.L.Bean spokesman told The Boston Globe, “No money was exchanged as part of the deal.” Each company keeps whatever it sells through its own shops and websites.
Is Dunkin’ giving away free coffee on National Coffee Day 2026?
Yep. National Coffee Day is Tuesday, Sept. 29, and Dunkin’ Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase made through the Dunkin’ app.
The fine print matters on this one. It’s good only on Sept. 29, it’s one use per member, and it doesn’t cover Cold Brew or hot espresso drinks. So a regular medium coffee, yes. A hot latte, no.
How much is the Dunkin’ L.L.Bean sweater and tote?

That Boat and Tote price might sting a little for a bag, but L.L.Bean fans know those things basically last forever. The coffee tote is the sleeper pick. It’s the cheapest piece, and it’s only at select Maine shops in person, so it could vanish fast.
Where is the L.L.Bean Bootmobile going?
L.L.Bean’s Bootmobile, the giant rolling Bean Boot, is on the road from Maine to Boston now through Sept. 29. For this trip it’s dressed in a Birdseye sweater-style wrap. It’s stopping at select Dunkin’ locations, where fans can snap photos and maybe score a Dunkin’ gift card.
The announcement doesn’t list every stop, so keep an eye on both brands’ social accounts if you’re in New England and want to chase it down.
