Dancing with the Stars swaps Tuesday for Monday, Nov. 2, because of Election Day. Wicked star Cynthia Erivo joins the panel, and eight couples are left after a scary double elimination.
Mark your calendar a day early. “Dancing with the Stars” Disney Night is coming Monday, Nov. 2, and Cynthia Erivo is the guest judge.
The ABC show normally airs Tuesdays. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, so the ballroom slides back a night, according to Just Jared and ABC7 Los Angeles.
MEAWW reports that host Alfonso Ribeiro made the announcement at the end of Horror Movie Night on Oct. 27. That makes Erivo the season’s fourth guest judge.
When does DWTS Disney Night air?
Disney Night is set for Monday, Nov. 2.
The show usually starts at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC, streams live on Disney+ and lands on Hulu the next day, per the Democrat and Chronicle.
ABC hasn’t posted a start time for the Monday episode yet. If it holds to the usual slot, that’s 8 p.m. Eastern.
Check your local listings that afternoon just in case.
No songs or dance styles have been announced. Disney Night usually means a stack of animated classics and a few newer hits.
Expect at least one couple to try something from “Encanto” or “Moana.” That part is a guess, so don’t bet the house on it.
Why is Cynthia Erivo judging Disney Night?
Nobody has said why ABC picked her. She does have Disney on her resume. Erivo played the Blue Fairy in Disney’s live-action “Pinocchio,” which hit Disney+ in 2022.
Most people know her as Elphaba from the “Wicked” movies. She also hosted the UK version of “Saturday Night Live” recently and played Glinda in a sketch, Just Jared notes.
So, y’know, she knows a thing or two about big musical numbers. Whether she judges like Bruno Tonioli or like Derek Hough is anyone’s guess.
Who is left on Dancing with the Stars Season 35?
Eight couples made it through Horror Movie Night. Here are the Week 7 scores, with the two-week totals that decided the double elimination, per ABC7:
Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson: 40 (76)
Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy: 37 (74)
Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold: 37 (69)
Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov: 36 (74)
Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach: 35 (72)
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas: 32 (67)
Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik: 28 (60)
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa: 26 (62)
Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess went home Tuesday. So did Jackson Olson and Emma Slater. Votes and scores from Dedication Night and Horror Movie Night were added together to make the cut, TheWrap reported.
What happened on DWTS Horror Movie Night?
Harry Shum Jr. stole the night. He and Johnson danced a contemporary routine inspired by “Saw” to 2WEI’s cover of “Toxic,” and it earned the season’s first perfect score.
Guest judge Shirley Ballas, Mark Ballas’ mother and a judge on “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro,” didn’t hand out 10s easily. She gave Julia Stiles a 4.
The “Glee” star packed the routine with lifts and tricks, and Bruno Tonioli called his acting and choreography “perfection.” Even Ballas came around. “I’ve been judging a long time, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like that,” Ballas said, per TheWrap.
Here’s the perfect-score routine from the official Dancing with the Stars channel:
Comedian Connor Wood also picked up his first 10s of the season. His contemporary piece was inspired by “Annabelle: Creation.” Not bad for a guy who came in as the funny one.
Tatyana Ali of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” went with a paso doble to “I Lied to You” from “Sinners.” Inaba called it her most passionate dance yet, though Ballas said she couldn’t spot many real paso doble steps.
How long has DWTS done Disney Night?
Disney Night has been a regular theme for more than a decade. Laughing Place recapped one back in Season 20, in April 2015, and the show has brought it back most seasons since.
It makes sense. ABC is owned by Disney, the show streams on Disney+ and the music library is right there.
The finale is Tuesday, Nov. 24, according to MEAWW. That leaves about four weeks for the eight couples to fight it out, starting with Mickey, Moana and whatever Erivo thinks of it all.
