Voice actor Eric Bauza, the modern voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck who also played Fozzie in Disney Junior’s Muppet Babies, has died at 46, his family announced.
Eric Bauza, the voice actor who took over Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck for a new generation, has died. He was 46.
His family announced his death Sunday night on his Instagram account. The post said he “passed away suddenly,” and added, “More details to come,” as Laughing Place and MickeyBlog reported.
Los Angeles County medical examiner notes obtained by Variety list the cause as hypertensive cardiovascular disease, Laughing Place reported.
Bauza had more than 400 voice credits over a 25-year career, according to Laughing Place.
For Disney fans, he was a lot more than Bugs.
What Disney characters did Eric Bauza voice?
Quite a few. The big one was Baby Fozzie in Disney Junior’s Muppet Babies, which ran from 2018 to 2022. The role earned him three of his five Daytime Emmy nominations, Laughing Place reported.
He also voiced Reggie on Disney Channel’s Kiff, and Luke Skywalker in several recent LEGO Star Wars animated projects, according to Laughing Place.
MickeyBlog lists more Disney credits:
The Beagle Boys in DuckTales (2017)
Jose Carioca in Legend of the Three Caballeros
Adam Warlock in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series
The Sentinels in X-Men ‘97
His Disney resume also included Phineas and Ferb, The Owl House and Spidey and His Amazing Friends, Laughing Place noted.
Who was Eric Bauza best known for?
Looney Tunes. Bauza was the modern voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, and he also voiced Porky Pig, Tweety, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian and more, MickeyBlog reported.
Laughing Place called him “the modern Mel Blanc.”
He was born in December 1979 in Scarborough, Ontario. He started out in animation at Spumco before moving into voice work, where one of his early jobs was voicing Stimpy, according to MickeyBlog.
His career was on a high when he died. Coyote vs. ACME, a Looney Tunes movie that sat on the shelf for years, had finally been released, Laughing Place noted.
At its Los Angeles premiere on Aug. 26, he switched between his Looney Tunes voices on the red carpet, Attractions Magazine reported.
Did Eric Bauza have theme park ties?
A few, and they go back to his childhood. As a kid, Bauza posed for photos at Six Flags and Universal Studios with the same cartoon characters he’d later voice, Attractions Magazine reported.
As an adult, his voice made it into at least one park. In a 2025 interview with Animation Scoop, he talked about recording Puss in Boots lines for Universal Orlando, including one near Shrek’s Cottage that points guests toward the restroom, according to Attractions Magazine.
He also voiced Woody Woodpecker, a longtime Universal mascot, in Universal’s 2017 movie.
Attractions Magazine said it has asked Disney and Universal whether Bauza recorded anything else for their parks.
What did Warner Bros. say about Eric Bauza?
Warner Bros. paid tribute to him, too.
Channing Dungey, chairman of the Warner Bros. Television Group, called Bauza “a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions,” MickeyBlog reported.
“He followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc,” Dungey added.
Bauza spent 15 years with Warner Bros. Animation, according to the statement.
How are Disney stars remembering him?
With shock. Vincent Martella, who voices Phineas on Phineas and Ferb, said on X that he was “in complete shock and disbelief.” His post has been viewed more than 80,000 times.
“He was a giant,” Martella wrote.
Phineas and Ferb co-creator Dan Povenmire also reacted. “This is devastating!” he wrote, according to Laughing Place.
The animation account ToonHive’s post sharing the news passed 1.4 million views on X by Monday morning.
Where can you hear Eric Bauza’s Disney work?
Muppet Babies and Kiff both stream on Disney+, along with DuckTales and Phineas and Ferb.
If your kids grew up on Muppet Babies, his Fozzie is the one they know: the little bear in the green hat who never stopped trying out new jokes.
