A viral post listed seven animated sequels coming to theaters in 2027. Here are the latest release dates, from Ice Age: Boiling Point in February to Frozen III at Thanksgiving.
Next year is shaping up to be the year of the animated sequel.
The Hollywood Handle posted a list of seven animated sequels coming in 2027 on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and it picked up more than 5,000 likes on X.
Three of them are Disney movies: Frozen III, Ice Age: Boiling Point and The New Simpsons Movie. The other four come from Universal, Sony and Paramount.
Some of these dates have already moved more than once. Here are the current dates, in release order.

When does Ice Age: Boiling Point come out?
Feb. 5, 2027. Disney revealed the title and date at its Destination D23 event, Nerdist reported.
It’s the sixth Ice Age movie and the first since Disney bought the franchise along with 20th Century Fox. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg are back, according to Disney’s announcement at D23 Brasil.
Nerdist said Disney describes it as “a dinosaur-and-lava-filled” adventure.
When does Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse come out?
June 18, 2027. Sony moved it up a week from June 25, Awards Radar reported in September 2025.
That June 25 date was itself a three-week push from June 4, 2027, TheWrap reported in July 2025. It’s the third and final movie in the Miles Morales trilogy, after 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse.
When does Shrek 5 come out?
June 30, 2027. Universal and DreamWorks moved Shrek 5 back six months to that date, Variety reported in August 2025.
Universal released a teaser in June. Zendaya, Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo are attached to voice Shrek and Fiona’s grown kids, according to The Direct.
When does Mutant Mayhem 2 come out?
Aug. 13, 2027. Paramount moved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 up from Sept. 17, Deadline reported in February.
The idea, according to Deadline, is to catch kids who are still out of school, before fall gets busy.
When does The New Simpsons Movie come out?
Sept. 3, 2027, the Friday of Labor Day weekend. The sequel was first set for July 23, 2027, then pushed back, World of Reel reported.
Its official title, The New Simpsons Movie, came with a poster at D23 in August, according to World of Reel. Homer stands next to a bush on it, a nod to the famous meme.
It’s the first Simpsons movie since The Simpsons Movie in 2007, and it comes from 20th Century, which Disney owns.
When does Hotel Transylvania 5 come out?
Oct. 8, 2027. Sony’s fifth movie is called The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, Variety reported in July.
That puts it a few weeks before Halloween, which is right where a monster hotel belongs.
When does Frozen III come out?
Nov. 24, 2027, the day before Thanksgiving. Disney showed early footage at D23 this year, and Anna and Kristoff are getting married, according to Sortiraparis’ recap. Elsa heads off on a new quest, and a mysterious villain shows up.
Frozen III is the big one for Disney. It closes out a year where the studio has three of the seven sequels on the list.
