Ghost Market and Gatto Are Pixar's Next Original Films
D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase Panel featured Pixar announcements including two new original films Gatto and Ghost Market. These films are scheduled for release in March 2027, and Spring 2028.
Pete Docter discussed two new original Pixar films Gatto and Ghost Market.
Gatto
Gatto is being made by the director of Luca. The film is about a black cat named Nero who lives in Venice, Italy.
Nero is the top cat operative for the cat world’s biggest mob boss.
Gatto releases to theaters on March 5, 2027.
Ghost Market
This one I’m excited about. It is a comedy directed by Trevor Jimenez.
“Kyle is a fast-talking teenager and content creator from Chicago. His life gets turned upside down when his mom forces him to go on vacation to Hawaii. He stumbles into a mysterious hidden market in the middle of nowhere. He realizes his hunt for a late-night snack has turned into something bigger. He’s discovered the crossroads of the living and the dead.”
The clip showcased a clip of Kyle doing a vlog-format live video while being chased by a bowl of ramen and chopsticks. This led him into the hidden Ghost Market.
From what I’m hearing it kind of reminds me a bit of “Spirited Away.”
Ghost Market will release in theaters March 10, 2028.
