Disney is bringing the acclaimed Hamilton film version—starring Lin‑Manuel Miranda and the original Broadway cast—to cinemas nationwide and in Puerto Rico on September 5, 2025, marking the musical’s 10th anniversary on stage.
This is the same version that Disney+ released on their service in July 2020 after the pandemic stopped plans for a theatrical release. Now it is coming to theaters.
This release offers something truly special: a cinematic presentation of the live Broadway experience. Filmed in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, Hamilton features the full original cast—including Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Phillipa Soo, and Christopher Jackson—with director Thomas Kail aiming to give audiences "the same seat" even outside the theater.
A brand new prologue titled “Reuniting the Revolution”, featuring interviews with Hamilton creators and cast members reflecting on the show’s impact, will accompany the theatrical version.
Early showings in New York City
Advance tickets are now on sale across the U.S. and Canada, with promotional first‑week screenings including special premiere events and free ticket lotteries in New York City.
A special premiere screening will take place at the Delacorte Theater on September 3, and a limited number of advance tickets will be available for a donation.
Free tickets will also be available by lottery at The Public Theater on September 3. A free standby line will be in Central Park before the screening starts. All advance ticket donations will benefit the Public Theater, where “Hamilton” debuted in 2015.
