Kathy Najimy and Christina Ricci are on Reese’s Halloween Council, picking America’s “Trick-or-Treatiest Street” from 150 finalists. The winning street gets a block party, announced Oct. 21.
One of the Sanderson sisters is grading your neighborhood’s Halloween game.
Kathy Najimy, Mary Sanderson in Disney’s Hocus Pocus, is on a panel Reese’s calls its Halloween Council. The job: pick the “Trick-or-Treatiest Street in America.”
She’s not alone. Christina Ricci, Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, is on the council too.
How does the Reese’s Trick-or-Treatiest Street contest work?
Reese’s started with a list. The candy brand surveyed 15,000 Americans and looked at decorations, community participation and walkability to come up with 150 finalist streets, according to Marketing Dive.
The council also looks at data on candy and costume buying trends, according to Reese’s.
You can see all 150 streets at hersheyland.com/trickortreatiest.
Who is on the Reese’s Halloween Council?
Five people:
Kathy Najimy, from Hocus Pocus
Christina Ricci, from The Addams Family
Rachel Iwanyszyn, a content creator
Zaire Alford, a content creator
Macy Blackwell, a content creator
Reese’s is filming the council’s search for a two-part social media series.
What does the winning street get?
A block party, put together with Zillow and stocked with Reese’s, including Reese’s Pumpkins and Peanut Butter Cups, plus a decked-out trick-or-treat setup.
The winner is set to be announced Wednesday, Oct. 21.
What makes a good trick-or-treat street?
Ricci had a take. In Reese’s announcement, she said the best Halloween streets are the ones that “create an atmosphere where trick-or-treaters keep coming back.”
Translation: one giant inflatable probably won’t win it. A whole street that shows up might.
Walkability matters too. Kids can hit a lot more houses on a street with sidewalks and porches close together, which is probably why Reese’s counted it.
Why is Kathy Najimy a Halloween icon?
Because of Hocus Pocus. Najimy played Mary, the sister with the crooked smile and the excellent sense of smell, opposite Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker in the 1993 Disney movie.
It flopped in theaters and then turned into a Halloween classic on TV and home video. The three came back for Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+ in 2022.
Fun overlap: Ricci’s Addams Family Values also came out in 1993. Two of the council’s judges come from the same Halloween season, 33 years ago.
What else has Kathy Najimy been in?
Plenty of Disney. Before Hocus Pocus, she played the bubbly Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act, released by Disney’s Touchstone Pictures in 1992. She came back for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit in 1993, the same year as Hocus Pocus.
She also voices Peggy Hill on King of the Hill, including the 2025 revival on Hulu. So her Halloween judging will come with strong opinions, delivered with confidence.
What else has Christina Ricci been in?
Ricci’s Halloween credentials go beyond Wednesday Addams. She also starred in Casper in 1995, and she later turned up in Netflix’s Wednesday in 2022, playing a teacher at Nevermore.
She even did a Disney movie of her own, the 1997 remake of That Darn Cat.
When is Halloween 2026?
Saturday, Oct. 31. A weekend Halloween means no school night, so expect a bigger trick-or-treat crowd than usual.
If your street didn’t make the top 150, there’s always next year. Or there’s this year, with a fog machine and a great porch.
