Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa went home on Dancing with the Stars' Disney Night, even though Maura Higgins finished the night with fewer judges' points.
Disney Night on Dancing with the Stars ended with tears, and with the math not quite adding up.
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa were eliminated Monday, Nov. 2, after landing in the bottom two with Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas. Fan votes count alongside the judges' scores, and the votes went Higgins' way.
Here's the twist. Higgins and Ballas had the lowest judges' total of the night, 68 points. Stiles and Sosa had 69. Viewers saved Higgins anyway.
"It's been an incredible experience," Stiles said through tears, TODAY reported. Sosa said it was an honor to watch her grow over the season.
Stiles talked to Extra after the show:
What did Julia Stiles dance on Disney Night?
A paso doble to "Satisfied" from Hamilton. It wasn't an easy week. Stiles' past rib injury flared up during rehearsals.
Bruno Tonioli loved it anyway. "That is how you tell a story!" he said. Carrie Ann Inaba praised her for "digging deep," though she caught a little stumble. Derek Hough called it a comeback after a rough week.
The dance scored 33 out of 40, with a 9 from Tonioli and 8s from everyone else. Then her team dance added 36 more.
Sosa has been in the news lately, too. The pro recently said he'd like to partner with a male celebrity in a future season.
What were the DWTS Disney Night scores?
Eight couples danced to Disney songs, many from Broadway versions of Disney movies. Cynthia Erivo joined Inaba, Tonioli and Hough as a guest judge.
Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson: jazz, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins, 40
Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy: quickstep, "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast, 40
Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach: samba, "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid, 37
Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov: quickstep, "A Star Is Born" from Hercules, 34
Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik: contemporary, "Easy as Life" from Aida, 33
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa: paso doble, "Satisfied" from Hamilton, 33
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas: jive, "You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" from Peter Pan, 32
Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold: waltz, "I See the Light" from Tangled, 32
Shum earned a perfect score for the second week in a row. Higgins, meanwhile, admitted the jive made her feel like she was in "Tinker Hell."
Broadway stars sang live, too. Heather Headley, the original Aida, performed for Ali and Wood. Michael James Scott sang "Under the Sea," and Rodney Ingram sang "Be Our Guest."
Who won the DWTS Disney Night team dances?
Team Wildcats. Co-host Julianne Hough joined Frech, Dewan, Wood and Shum for "We're All in This Together" from High School Musical, and it earned a perfect 40.
Team Slaytopia, led by co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, danced to "Zoo" from Zootopia 2 and scored 36. That team had Glenn, Higgins, Ali and Stiles, which is how the bottom of the leaderboard got so crowded.
Who has immunity next week on DWTS?
Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson. Shum and Dewan tied with perfect scores, so producers looked at the whole season. Shum had 236 total points to Dewan's 235. One point.
That immunity matters next week. DWTS returns to Tuesdays on Nov. 10 with Grammy Night and a dance-off round.
Where is Jackson Olson now?
Visiting the Wheel of Fortune set. Olson, the Savannah Bananas star who went home in last week's double elimination with Tyler Cameron, stopped by to see his girlfriend, Maggie Sajak, TV Insider reported.
Sajak, Pat Sajak's daughter and the game show's social media correspondent, cheered Olson on from the DWTS audience every week. Now he's returning the favor.
There's a Disney World tie here, too. The couple made things Instagram official in April with a photo from Disney World captioned "Applications closed."
Pro Adele Zaikman sat out Disney Night after getting sick, as she announced earlier Monday.
