Why you can’t buy Kinder Surprise eggs in the United States
The product is prohibited, and it has been for decades.
Federal food law bars confections with non-nutritive objects embedded inside them. A hollow chocolate egg with a plastic capsule in the middle falls squarely under that rule, which is why Kinder Surprise has never been sold legally in American stores.
Kinder Joy, which arrived in the U.S. in 2017, works around it by splitting the package into two sealed halves, one holding the chocolate and one holding the toy.
The Playmobil Disney figures are a Kinder Surprise promotion, not a Kinder Joy one. Anyone in the U.S. wanting them is looking at import listings and resale markets.
What is in the Kinder Disney Playmobil collection
The format matters if you have collected Playmobil before.
The set contains 18 figures in the Big Figure format, the larger size that fills the egg capsule rather than the smaller minis.
They are distributed mostly in pairs from the same film, drawing on Disney and Pixar characters. Mr. Incredible is among those identified.
Collector database Klickypedia has registered it as a 2026 promotional collection exclusive to Kinder in Easter Egg format.
How much do the Kinder Disney Playmobil eggs cost
French reporting puts a three-egg box at €3.40, roughly four dollars.
Figures are not sold individually. They come out of the eggs at random, which is the entire business model.
Collectors who worked through the DC set will recognize the pattern. The last four or five figures in any Kinder run are always the hardest to complete.
Has Kinder officially announced the Disney collection
Here the reporting gets thinner, and it deserves a caution.
Neither Kinder nor Playmobil appears to have issued an English-language announcement. Kinder’s UK site lists the DC Playmobil collection and not this one.
The details circulating come from European Playmobil news sites, collector databases and fans who have already found figures in market. One Spanish outlet reported this week that a collector has shown all 18 on video.
Treat the 18-figure count and the character list as collector-sourced until Kinder confirms it.
The DC collection came first
The precedent explains why this one was expected.
Kinder ran a DC Playmobil collection across the region for Easter 2026, containing 16 miniatures of well-known DC characters.
That set sold well enough that a follow-up was widely anticipated. Disney is the obvious second license.
Where Disney collectibles are actually moving right now
The Kinder set is one of several international Disney collectible drops happening at once.
In Japan, Ichiban Kuji Disney Princess: Enchanted Glow launches Saturday at 7-Eleven, Ito-Yokado and Yume Town stores, with Belle and Beast figures as the top prizes. A second line, Happy Kuji: Disney IDOL ON STAGE, follows Sept. 26.
Sanrio’s Kuromi x KATSEYE collection launched at Target in August.
None of those reach American shelves through normal retail either, with the exception of the Sanrio drop.
How to collect Disney Kinder figures from the US
The options are limited and each has a catch.
Import sellers list Kinder Surprise eggs and loose figures on secondary marketplaces. Prices run well above the €3.40 retail cost, and the figures usually arrive without the egg or the leaflet that collectors want.
Buying loose figures also removes the point of the format, which is the surprise.
Anyone traveling to Europe this year can simply buy them at a supermarket for about the price of a coffee. That remains the cheapest route by a wide margin.
