Kingdom Hearts is officially coming to Fortnite
Sora is confirmed for Fortnite, and his Keyblade swaps Mickey for a Loot Llama
Epic Games confirmed the Kingdom Hearts crossover in Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 key art, with Sora appearing in his Kingdom Hearts II outfit. His Keyblade carries a Loot Llama keychain where the Mickey Mouse emblem normally sits.
Sora is coming to Fortnite!
Epic Games released the finished key art for Chapter 7 Season 4: Override on August 16, confirming the long-rumored Kingdom Hearts crossover after months of leaks. Sora appears in his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, Keyblade in hand.
There is a change to his Keyblade. The keychain dangling from it, which normally features a Mickey Mouse emblem, has been replaced with a Loot Llama- Fortnite’s mascot.
The season launches August 20.
The trailer caused an hour of panic
Kingdom Hearts fans had a rough stretch Sunday morning.
Epic dropped the 99-second Override trailer first, and Sora wasn’t in it. No Keyblade, no Sora, nothing, despite Kingdom Hearts appearing in leaked key art the day before. Multiple outlets reported the collaboration missing.
Then the finished key art landed, and there he was.
The likely explanation is scheduling. Two crossovers, Sonic and Tetris, are confirmed for the Battle Pass at launch. Everything else arrives in the Item Shop across the season, dates unannounced. Sora falling into that second group would explain both his absence from a launch trailer and his presence in the season art.
The Mickey swap is interesting
Fortnite replaced it with a Loot Llama.
That’s either a licensing accommodation, a bit of Epic branding, or a joke aimed squarely at people who would notice. Given that Disney co-owns Kingdom Hearts and just spent a week promoting its Epic partnership, a quiet Mickey-for-llama trade is a strange and funny thing to find in the artwork.

Master Chief is the other headline get. Microsoft’s flagship character in Epic’s battle royale would have been unthinkable a few years back.
Why this took so long
Kingdom Hearts has been the hardest of these to pin down, and the reason is ownership.
Sora is co-owned by Disney and Square Enix, which wraps him in two sets of approvals rather than one. That’s why dataminers spent months surfacing a Gummi Ship vehicle while the Sora skin stayed unconfirmed.
The timing lines up neatly with Disney’s own push. Disney named Kingdom Hearts among nine franchises in its portfolio that have each cleared a billion dollars, and it launched its own Fortnite island, Smugglers Gambit, connected to the Millennium Falcon attraction at two of its parks this weekend.
So Disney is in Fortnite as a park tie-in, as Star Wars content, as The Simpsons later this year, and now as Sora.
