Kingdom Hearts: The Series is coming to Disney+ and Disney Channel
Disney announced an animated Kingdom Hearts show at the D23 Entertainment Showcase Friday night. The title card said Coming Soon and nothing else.

Disney announced Kingdom Hearts: The Series during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at the Honda Center on Friday night. It’s the first time the franchise has been adapted outside of games.
The reveal came with almost nothing attached to it.
What Disney actually announced
A title card and a piece of art.
The slide read Kingdom Hearts The Series, with the words Coming Soon underneath, over an image of a hooded figure holding a Keyblade. Two logos sat at the bottom: Disney Channel and Disney+.
No premiere date. No creative team. No voice cast. No format, no episode count, no confirmation of whether it adapts the games or tells an original story.
ABC7, reporting from inside the room, described it as coming to Disney+ and noted that no further details were given.
Which platform is it on
Both, based on the slide.
The stage card carried the Disney Channel and Disney+ logos side by side. Some of the first coverage listed Disney+ alone, which matches how Disney’s own on-site reporting framed it.
Until a release goes out, the safe read is that the card is the more complete version and the platform arrangement hasn’t been formalized publicly.
Why a Kingdom Hearts series is a strange thing to make
The rights are the whole problem.
Kingdom Hearts exists because Square Enix and Disney agreed to let Donald Duck and Goofy travel through worlds built from Disney and Pixar films alongside Final Fantasy characters. That arrangement works in a game, where each world is a level.
A television series has to decide what it is. A show that hops between Disney properties week to week is a different animal from one that stays in the original Square Enix material and treats the Disney worlds as backdrop.
Nothing announced Friday indicates which.
When does Kingdom Hearts: The Series come out
Unannounced.
What’s on the calendar for the franchise is Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] on October 8, and Kingdom Hearts IV, which Disney dated Friday to late 2027.
There’s also a dedicated Kingdom Hearts panel Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific, streaming on Disney’s YouTube channel, with the voices of Sora and Riku on stage. That’s the next realistic window for anyone to say more about this.
A hooded figure and the words Coming Soon is not much to work with. It’s also more than the franchise has ever had outside a console.
