The Kit Connor Cyclops casting is a rumor, not a done deal

Deadline broke the news that Connor is Marvel’s choice to play Scott Summers, the visor-wearing mutant who fires energy beams from his eyes. But Deadline’s own reporting frames it as in-talks, not signed. Its headline says Connor is “eyed for” the role, and the story notes his deal would still need to close.
On top of that, “Marvel and reps for Connor could not be reached for comment,” per Deadline. So nobody official has confirmed it.
That hasn’t stopped some sites from running “officially cast” headlines already. Treat those with caution. What’s real is that Connor is the frontrunner and reportedly beat out a field of actors who screen-tested in July, after director Jake Schreier and Marvel boss Kevin Feige met with candidates. Real momentum, not a signed contract.
If it does close, Connor would be the third actor to play Cyclops on screen, after James Marsden in the original films and Tye Sheridan in the later prequels.

Weaving, the Ready or Not star, has been confirmed to play Emma Frost, the telepath also known as the White Queen, a character who’s flipped between X-Men villain and hero over the years. Multiple outlets report her casting as settled, not rumored.
She’s the same kind of get as Connor, a rising star on a sharp upward trajectory, which fits the pattern Marvel seems to be running for this reboot: build the new mutant team out of fresh faces rather than established franchise names.
Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey ties the X-Men to Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Here’s the piece that connects this reboot to the biggest movie in theaters right now.
The X-Men’s Jean Grey has already been introduced, and she showed up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sadie Sink, the Stranger Things actress, plays her, debuting as a villain in the Spider-Man film with the ending setting her on a path toward becoming a hero.
That matters for the X-Men movie because Cyclops and Jean Grey are one of the most famous couples in comics. So if Connor’s Cyclops casting holds, Marvel would have half of that iconic pairing locked, built directly off a character it just launched in a billion-dollar Spider-Man hit. The studio is threading its mutants into the wider Marvel universe through the movie everyone’s already watching.
Who else is rumored for Marvel’s X-Men reboot

Reports have linked Charles Melton (May December) to Beast and Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus) to Rogue, though neither is confirmed. Actress Inde Navarrette has said publicly she met with Schreier about playing Mystique. Fans have floated names for Storm, Professor X, and the rest of a classic lineup.
Notably, there’s no sign of Wolverine in this version yet, which would be a real departure given how central Hugh Jackman’s Logan was to the old films.
The film has no release date, and Marvel hasn’t put out an official cast list. What’s happening instead is the slow drip, a confirmed name here, a strong rumor there, as the studio locks its mutants one at a time. Weaving’s in for sure. Connor’s the frontrunner. The rest is a waiting game, and given how fast the names are landing, probably not a long one.
